The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
These cars really needed a better drive line from the Flywheel and back but its a moot point.
Correct, the only internal differance is the 2nd gear servo most of the time, most newer V8 GM cars and trucks are getting the corvette servo now, the V6er's don't usually have those. Other then that everything else is the same with the 4L60E, now the 4L65E will have the deeper pan, and 5 pinion support along witht he extra clutch and steel in the 3/4 clutch pack, iirc.
On a side not, the 4L60E transmission isn't all that bad of a unit, talking for a nice street/strip car of course, they can be build, with the correct parts, to handle 700+ HP, but there all better options out there, i.e TH400, TH350, Glide, 4L80E, etc. Now with that said of course the 4L60E will take more $$ compared to the other already stronger units out there to survive that big HP. As far as I'm concerned, if you pushing that much HP, you might as well bite the bullet and abandon the 4L60E build and go with one of the others.
Kinda off subject...sorry
