Anyone live in Anne Arundel County MD?
hey, I wanted to see if anyone that lives in the area could give me some info regarding the different middle and high schools... I just graduated college in NY and seems that only MD is hiring teachers in my discipline...
i have an idea of demographics and stuff like that but obviously I'm not sure about school reputations and whatnot, any help is appreciated
so far the schools that I've interviewed with that basically said they want me are:
Corkran Middle School, Meade High School, Arundel Middle, and MacAruther
thanks!

I live in AA CO. Not really sure what information I can provide to you, but there are 3 schools near me. Northeast High School, George Fox Middle and High Point Elementary.
I don't know. I mean, there are a ton of schools here.

Meade HS is a ghetto shithole - lots of racial issues there that they seem to hide well. You get military brats for the good kids, and the problem kids are Section 8 housing. Arundel and MacArthur are feeders for Meade, so you get the same problems. Corkran isn't nearly as bad.
Anything open around the Annapolis or south county area? That's the place to be.

Montgomery CO is prefered in terms of public schools in md. My mother taught in PG county schools for 34 years... But most of that was at Eleanor Roosevelt HS which is a magnet school for above average students. But sadly even it went way down hill as more and more local kids were put into the school out weighing the ones brought in....
MoCo just got a number of its schools on a list of top in the nation.

That might help.

Why the push for AA county over the others?
Look for one with a high amount of AP classes offered... Normally the more AP the hgiher level of student you get.
My old school(same my mom taught at) Eleanor Roosevelt hs has a number of famous Alumni:
Mya Harrison(singer)
Martin Lawrence(actor/comedian)
Jermain Lewis(NFL player)
I know there are more but those stick out(mostly cause I have met them or my mom taught them).
