Hurricanes just make a lot of rain down there, havent seen anything too bad. I think there are a fair amount of f bodies there, and of course VA speed is there too. I'm in Northern VA but still go down there often.

Well being in tornado alley, tornados don't bother me as much, plus I'm just kind of hearing that this area is kinda crummy?!?! I'm moving there for a job so if anyone has any advice on where to steer clear of in terms of actual living, I'd appreciate it!

Well I'm looking to live in roughly Yorktown or maybe a little further south, I'll be working in Hampton at a dealership but I've been reading online that VA Beach and Hampton is kinda going to the dogs.

I live at the beach. It's not going to the dogs man haha. If anything Hampton and Yorktown have a lot of growing to do. Not sure what kind of town/city you're coming from but virginia beach has everything you could need. Just remember that Virginia beach itself is a huge town size wise. So theres a bit of every living style depending on which part you end up.

That being said; if you're working in Hampton you will want to try to find a place on "that side of the water". Meaning, you want to avoid having to go through a tunnel on your way to work like a case of the itch. Not kidding dude. You could literally live 5 miles away from work on the other side of the the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel and it will take you an hour and a half to get to work. No ****. So I would try to stay on the side of the tunnel that you'll be working. Hope that's easy to understand.

I've heard the tunnel is a pain, I have no idea if it was true or not, I just want to find a place where I think my cars are gonna be safe!

I'll be talking with my employer hopefully today or tomorrow to discuss getting moved out.

Oh it's true. My dad's house looks over the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel. He likes to joke that he doesn't need a clock because he can tell what time it is by which side of the tunnel is backed up.

Depends on where in Hampton you want to live, there are some nice areas. There are houses for rent near Little Back River Road near Langley, the neighborhood is called Willow Oaks. My mother in law lives there and it's a nice area, I would def get a house there if we ever move back to the area. There are some shady parts of Hampton so be careful but yeah you do not want to deal with the tunnel traffic. You will get no where fast and waste a lot of gas.
Yorktown is very nice and growing I lived there for a while and I'm originally from Gloucester which is across from Yorktown, but a little far to drive to Hampton for work, but I have friends that do that all the time so it's really up to you and what you want.

The car scene/f-body scene has died down a lot. I don't know if they still meet at the K-mart over in Klien Creek in Yorktown or not. Genros in Va Beach usually has a good turn out. Def not tornado alley in Hampton Roads, just hurricanes every now and then mostly a lot of rain. After the tornado in Gloucester that's the worst one in a really long time, and very rare. Good luck on the house hunt.

Thanks a lot, I just heard today that I got the job so now it's time to get serious with the plans. I have a place to stay when I get there but I don't want to mooch off my friends family for long. I'm not looking forward to driving both cars 16 hours there.
