That's the big picture here. Lots of people knew about his actions, but noone wanted to come forward and make it known in order to protect the football program.
I bet if it was one of the other faculty members in the art department, or science program or any other athletic department other than football, it would have been front page news the day it happened. Instead, all of the actions were kept private and hidden from the public in order to protect Penn State Football.
The fact that Joe P knew about it for so long, makes him guilty of poor judgment, and that's all it takes sometimes to get fired.
