Anybody here familiar with Mongillo Motors in New Haven, CT? Ed Gomez is a very dedicated tuner, I drove a cammed G8 GT he tuned and it drove perfectly. The owner of the G8 went to a couple of different places, including Kaltech to get the car tuned and ended at Mongillo motors. I can't find any information or reviews on them, however.

I'm also looking for somebody. It's between RPM, Tune Time Performance, and ECS right now. Any other tuners recommended?

We just tuned 4 vehicle's from the mongillo area this week. A cammed G8 is an easy tune due to the computer. Hides a lot if needed.

Wasn't so easy for one of the tuners out here lol. Fuel trims turned off and the car was tuned to run in open loop all the time. And this is a highly reputable tuner on these forums that I'm talking about.

Some cars run open loop. I see no issue's with them if they are for a reason. My personal street cars are and they get awesome gas mileage and 1/4 times.
So, there is a place for everything.

I already know of one tuner being recommended in here is a total f-in hack and way over charges for his crap work. I'm sure many people know who I mean but if you don't know you are the one that said nice things about his tuning. So if you think it might be you it's a good possibility you are correct. I don't like taking food off anyone's plates so I will not say anyone's name. I know completely useless but many people here will know without me saying and I'm sure have cleaned up some messes he has made. so I'll leave it at that.

Sorry but I had too.

The car that had this done to it that I was talking about was a G8 GT. I don't know, it just seems like the easy way out to me. It would run pig rich at idle and lean up at WOT, and would register KR at all throttle positions and normal driving when I logged the car, especially lugging in a high gear.

So, it just wasn't done right. That is easy to get wrong. An open loop tune is a lot harder than a closed loop setup. Last 2010 Camaro drag car I did took 2 days to get the open loop precise.

What is the benefit of running in open loop all the time?

Someone dug up an old thread!!!! OP was in 2011!

I will say Slowhawk tuned my 9 second DAILY DRIVEN , turbocharged firebird , OPEN loop and it drove like a bone stock car. 400 miles a week 18 mpg , made right at 800 rwhp. Through winter and summer, same tune , ran perfect

SO again , when it's done right.............

That's awesome. I'm not doubting you, I'm just curious. What is the benefit of staying in open loop? I'm not being a smart ***, I'm genuinely curious.

I would imagine that having the car make fuel adjustments to keep the A/F ratio in line would be a good thing.

For certain cars i will agree but a simple modded G8 i feel there is no need imo.
