failed Mass inspection
failed Mass inspection Because my headlight lenses were scratched to hell. He was right, didn't expect to fail for that though. Looks better now.

I always try to get my inspection done at some half way shop to avoid any issues. My exhaust and tint won't pass, and my horn doesn't work but I've never been questioned. What did you use on the headlights thought? I like the 3m kit for restoring headlights.

I did some research online and saw people with good results wet sanding with 400 grit, then 1000, then 2000, then polish. I ended up getting the Rainx kit at Autozone for $15. It has 3 abrasive pad grits, polish compound, polish cloth & sealant. The corsest pad in the kit didn't seem coarse enough so I started with some 400 grit I had and then used the 3 pad grits, then polish.
The final step is a spray on sealant. It made it look great and really clear. This morning honestly it looked a tiny bit cloudy compared to the 'after' pic. Still a giant improvement.

Most of the time you can start off with an aggressive 3" pad and some 1500 grit compound and work your way up from there. Usually what I start with using a porter cable. 400 grit wetsand seems pretty aggressive, but I could see 1000 being needed if its bad enough.
