Default Operation 2001 SS

As my wife's 50th Bday approaches in 2.5 months I set my sites on finding her a Forth gen. Z/28 or SS and oh ya I need to keep this on the Down Low so I have a secret stash of money and I have a budget that I can't exceed , So after looking at a bunch of cars in the 4-6 k range I found every one I looked at needed 2-4 k worth of work to make them presentable , seats damaged . Carpet damage, mods done (not correctly) or I looked at 3 that needed engines , So here we are I bought a 01 SS that needs a motor and cosmetics black on black T Top car has needs but I payed 800 for it and I'm ok with that ! Not 5 k and needs a motor lol , so I'm on my way , Engine inbound (02 vet Donner ) w 74 k , 10 spoke rims off a 01 SS from a great guy in auburn who met me half way (travel wise) , This is my first 4th gen I have had 4, 3rd gens 3 of them were IROCs My first was a 03 Cross fire car I bought new, so I'm looking forward to the finished product , im sure I will need the advice of some of you during the next few months , I have a friend on here that will post pics for me , great to have ls1 tech as a resource Bob. Ps if anyone on here knows me this is a surprise gift for her so Shhhhhhh

sorry Bob , remember I said my laptop died and i was using my wifes old one with a dead screen plugged into the tv right now well its slow as heck spent more time than i want to admit getting these 3 thumbnails on , hopefully get my laptop back working soon.

You cant post pics as well as cant post to classifieds when new here ?? glad I joined long before I got an LS car...would be a heck of a lot easier if you could post what you need for this car in eastern classifieds - anyone know if its OK to post a wanted ad on behalf of a newbie ? or if i will get crap for doing that ?

Thanks Keith well after a primary survey of what the car needs its not bad ,engine knew that ! Drivers ebony leather seat back skin , exhaust refit , tires , hood drivers door and front bumper cover repaint , and a overall buff . Pulled the tint off the windows yesterday vacuumed it out wiped down the interior and gave it a bath , looked under the car no rust anywhere on the body , she should be a great car again the carfax showed thit it was a well cared for 2 owner dealer maintained car that 5 months ago was handed down to the 19 year old Daughter who ran over a curb bent the right lower control arm and cracked the oil pan that caused a slow leak and ran it out of oil , I sent u some pics to post when you can,

$800? Damn. Well done.
Between the Hood, Spoiler, Grill, and that Ebony Interior you've got double your money sitting there in desirable parts.

When he first called me on this car before putting a deposit on it I said the same thing then, hood, hatch ,grille,etc..

being an 01 it should have ls6 intake and 241 heads there's another $400

+323 rear another 250-300 ,the wheels another couple bux if the rubbers decent I don't think either of us thought initial cleanup would have it looking this decent definitely not a parts car but I always like obvious parts value to add up to more than I pay for any car and Bob blew that standard out of the water on this find.

He has great paint, body, and detail skills so watch him erase the 5 months the kid had to mess it up and turn it back into a 74k diamond here in the next couple months.

engine swap gets going next week then its off to the paint shop for some touch up work...

Bob look at the headlights on the cars in my sig pic below then scroll up to the pic of what yours look like , thats what I was describing you should do on yours.....err hers...lol

its come along way in the last week allready but not an $800. car anymore you must be over 3 grand into it by now ?

Bob found this one on his own I just helped him figure out worst case value before he pulled the trigger.

I did try to get him to keep another grand in his pocket by bolting the ls6 intake and front accesories from the original engine onto a 5.3 he has at work but I understand him wanting his first ls1 car to actually have an ls1 as well as matching up the miles of the donor engine with the car and being an ls1 will help keep the end value up especially being an SS car.
