Default Exhaust question.....

I posted a thread in the firebird section about what kind of exhaust i should look at and got a lot of great ideas. But it looks to me like i need someone that can custom make me one or im going to be trying to come up with $ 1700 to buy a kooks and i really don't want to do that. So is there anyone near Leesburg va or with in a 2 hour drive that can do this or knows anyone that can?

First of all nice car!

Whats wrong with a Borla, Magnaflow, or Hooker?
I have a Borla non adjustable and I love it. Its actually my 2nd one. Not very loud at all.
I had a Magnaflow on my old 98z28 and it was pretty quiet until it got some throttle. I liked that one too but I like Borla better.
Magnaflow would save you a big chunk of $, its stainless, and not as loud

Depends what your going for and future intentions. A loud exhaust now will be even louder if you make more power later.

I see maybe 3 good options.
Get headers, keep stock catback and get e-cutouts. Loud when you want, quiet otherwise.

Get headers, something mild like a magnaflow, and maybe still a cutout for when you want it loud but still a little growl cruising closed.

3rd, get headers and a loud exhaust, true duels, or imo the best y pipe catback gmmg.

You can see/hear what I did in my profile link. (but my car is a weekend toy)

When it comes to headers don't cheap out, american racing or kooks are good. They are worth the extra coin. I'll be replacing my hookers within another year or so w/ ARH.

I would go with a set of Texas Speed Headers and y/pipe keep the stock exhaust and do an electric cutout. You would be way under $1700. Prob closer to $900. Just don't buy SLP headers!

Hey ty I like yours to looks like u take good care of it.

My deal on the exhaust is the race motor I have was designed with a free flowing exhaust in mind. I don't want to dump it at the axle i had that and hated it. I need something to go straight out the back and have it as free flowing as possible without it giving me a constant headache. Im also cool with a electronic cut out for when i want to open her up more. So that's why im looking for a good place that can make me one.

my opinion GMMG is the best sounding exhaust for these cars. but if you get GMMG with headers they can be a bit extreme if you're not into that sorta thing.

Magnaflow gets my vote. It is free flowing and loud when you need it to be.

If your set on kooks once u got the cash give Maryland speed a call. They might give u a way better deal then on there webpage. They gave me a nice discount when I called them up. Also paying by cash or check might knock some more off the price.

Our most common setup I'd magnaflow cat back with electric cutout. Cutout closed- easy to drive without head ache.
Cutout open- loud as hell and all the power.
Best of both worlds.

I have the mufflex 3.5" hidden tip with the magnaflow muffler. I love it and I am going to add a cutout to it. I can barely hear my cam with this exhaust, it pretty quiet when idling, its kinda low toned. When you get on it, it screams! I never liked tips on a camaro without a valence so thats why I went with the hidden tips. Duals are great, but too loud where I live.

Give Denny @ Mufflex in Trenton, NJ a call he can make a really nice exhaust and keep it both quite and in a budget, He did the exhaust on my wifes GTO and it is perfect, it is well worth the drive thye are over 2hrs from us and it still was well worth it
