Default Cam only C7- New Era VVT cam gains 121 rwhp!

Been doing a lot of C7 and LT1 testing on the shop C7 this winter on the dyno.

Engine intake system R&D, cams, porting stock parts. Some of the factory parts are good performance. But New Era using the all the past years of LSx, cam and tuning with VVT, AFM, DOD on the latest engines. The C7 last week on the dyno with a VVT cam package with AFM delete testing are showing some big gains.

121 rwhp at 6550 rpms over stock!

Our C7 has a stock air intake and filter still
New Era Performance VVT cam package with AFM delete
ARH mid length 1 3/4 primary headers,
NEP Race axle back exhaust (prototype)
In house tuning (dynojet) mike @ newera (I hear hes good )

So, 89hp gain from headers and Cam? That's good. Looks like you still need to set the TM under 3400rpm so it goes WOT down there.

There are no throttle issues, it is 100% throttle throughout actually. The headers are 1 3/4 mid-length headers Don, it could really use some long tube headers to gain some low end torque there . John probably should have mentioned the peak to peak gains in the title and then pointed out the gains at 6550 rpms separately so it doesn't look misleading.

I've tested mids to longtube. Big difference in midrange.

We never tested the mids so that's why we tried them. We are planning to do an intake before anything else though as of right now, just not sure which route to go there yet.

Intake should be real good. I see a drop in KPA now from it. Our route is a fairly aggressive cam, stall converter and blower on the car here.

The KPA drop got much worse after the cam Don. I am not sure which route to go with the intake right now though. I think what LMR is doing might function really well, but I don't think the MAF location is going to work where they have it right now. Then there is Halltech which looks decent as well, and Vengeance had a huge gain from the Halltech intake after they did cam and headers (20+ rwhp). I plan to keep my car N/A, I have a couple of C7 customers considering a blower come summertime though as well.
