Either way but I'd rather find someone good locally I can trust. My hands are bad and I really can't help wrench anything. Most of the shops I contacted turn it into a huge job that's ridicules. I realize there is a lot to it but the shops take it way over the top.

Gotcha. I'm still a newb when dealing with pulling heads as i only had done 2,both out of the car on an engine stand. For performance shop there's CSP in chester county. I have no experience with them directly but have heard nothing but good things about them. There is a local near you. I can't recall his entire username but it has johnny in there. I bought stuff from him a couple times and recall he owns a few fbodies. Stay away from DFR in ephrata btw.

CSP said they won't work on it because I want to keep it stock??????? They only do performance upgrades??????? I found a good shop nearby but they are way crazy on what they want to do and very expensive. I found a guy local that's done some great work for me before on the side but hes a teacher way busy all the time. Actually at this point I think 1 of the rocker bearing is bad and that maybe all it needs to stop the noise. But the lifters need to be done because they have always been noisy and are getting worse. I figured I'd just get it over with and do the cam, lifters, timing chain etc.

weird they'd not want to work on your car because you'd want to keep it stock. if weather's nice and I have no plans I can come up and help and do a mini mod day lol. depending on how up north in Allentown you are at. I'm over in Lancaster.

Well I found out why the lifters are noisy, the oring on the oil pickup is bad. I've got tiny air bubbles in the oil and tapping comes and goes. Plus one of the rocker on the pass side must be in bad shape. I gotta find someone soon, its drivable but noisy. Oring must of shrank over the winter from sitting not being run. Was quiet last fall when she stopped driving it regular. I found 2 shops local I just need to pick one I trust. The 1st one has a good rep but very expensive, 2nd one is small local guy(much cheaper) very good rep too but he's a Chrysler guy and not familiar with LS engines. He's confident he can handle it no problem.

I'm in the middle of replacing the head gaskets on my LT1. Can't speak so much to the LS engine but its probably not that much different. If it starts this weekend, I'll let you know but I'm not sure thats the level of expertise you were hoping for, lol.

If you don't mind me asking, what are the shops quoting you?
