Default Opinions on Exhaust?

Well I have been contemplating throwing an exhaust on the goat since the day I bought it. Every one I shop around for seems a but pricy especially considering the very minimal gains that are to be expected from them.
I was considering getting some "performance" mufflers welded in instead of the whole catback. Any opinions on this? I know on an older stang that I would never consider doing this because of how restrictive the factory exhaust was, where as the newer stangs weren't "as bad". But on the goat I haven't really seen many numbers on how good/bad the factory exhaust flows. I dunno maybe this is a stupid question but I figured I may as well see what you "LS1" experts thought! I just hate to spend 500+ bucks on something that isn't realy worth it.

BTW I ordered the Ripshift, so I'll let u all know how much better that is than the sloppy a$$ factory shifter by this weekend!

Didn't even know magnaflow had an exhaust available for the goat yet. I have always loved the way Macs sound, but they don't seem to have anything available either, that's why I was thinking about possibly putting Macs in as replacements for the stock units, if I could find a comparable size. I'll probably do a little more research in regards to the stock system before making my decision. If it is in fact a 2.5" system which I do believe it is, I will probably keep it and just replace the mufflers. Anything smaller than that and I'll definitely go with a full catback system on her.

id just replace the mufflers for now especially if your consindering a turbo youll need some of the stock exhaust for the sts i believe

Matter's on what your plan in with your car.I suggest working from the header's back.So first headers,then catback.If you are considering a STS I'd wait or do what B-man suggested,replace the muffler's with Bullit muffler's.

I agree with this. As I have seen with headers and such the stock exhaust doesn't choke the car much at all.

Thanks for the opinions guys. As far as the exhaust goes for now, I just wanted the car to sound a little meaner, I figured that no matter what route I went that the catback wouldn't make much, if any, of an improvement. A couple of you guys mentioned Bullit flow throughs, any input on where I can get these? As far as an LS tune? What do these typically run? I'll drop you a PM in regards to that Slowhawk, I may have to make a trip down to Dez soon.
