Question Help with Cam Install

I'm going to be doing my cam install in February (or March at the latest, depending on the school workload). This is the first time that I will be doing one (along with installing LS6 intake, ported ls6 oil pump, double roller chain/gears) and I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me along with it. I live in northern VA and I have a garage to use, as well as basically every tool imaginable on earth (except for the JPR cam install tool, if someone wanted to loan one for the swap i'd set up a shrine to you). So, if anyone could lend a helping hand for a couple days or however long it took, I'd really appreciate it. I have the instructions from ls1howto but i just want to make 100% SURE that I do this right the first time. Again, I'd appreciate whatever help I could get. Thanks a lot guys.

Jon

If I lived closer I'd help. Listen, I just did mine a few weeks ago all by myself. I't not hard. Locked myself in a garage for 4 days, LOL.

Key questions...
Do you have a place to work on it?
Do you have the tools?
Did you install all of your bolt-ons? (mechanically inclined?)
Do you have a second vehical?
Do you have patience?

Since you have a "yes" next to the first two I am inclined to believe that you can do this. Only other very important thing is that you do NOT set a hard completion date. It won't be done in time. There ar ealways snags and you do not want to rush. It is done when it is done! That is where the second car comes in...not to mention the many trips to the store. Stay motivated but take breaks, work at a relaxed pace and have fun.

The answer is yes to all of those questions. I just wanted to make totally sure that I don't screw something up. I am mechanically inclined and I don't think any of this work is above my level, I just know I will not think about something and screw something up. Therefore, I wanted someone to be there, if possible, to just sorta watch over (and help with the radiator removal ) and be there to point out when I might possibly mess something up.

I think you are good to go. Like I said, I did my FIRST ever by myself at the beginnin of the month. You can always get your buddy or GF (non LS1 expert) to help get the raditor out. My brother happend to show up right after I had it 90% out. He just held it in place while I oriented it but that is because I didn't detach a tube on the bottom DR side (not in howto). If you can't get anyone to help remove it and are strong, hop on the area where the shroud used to be and just pull it out (once everything is disconnnected, not like me, LOL). Kinda like an upright row. I reinstalled by my lonesome. Have confidence in yourself.

I am confident that I can do it myself with some patience and possibly a rock'em sock'em buddy to get random aggression out. I'm just waiting on some money right now so I can order/install LS6 intake, ported TB, rollmaster 2x, and ported ls6 oil pump at the time of the cam install. So, I've got quite the project.

Anyone have the JPR tool though? I just don't want to spend that much money on something that I'm going to use for about 10 minutes. If not, what did you use?
