Go get new cables cause they're free, then if you want to keep loading stuff on the tailgate and not worry about it, get a set of these. You'll probably pull the mounting tabs off before these break.

http://dsdd.com/vrstrap/

That really sucks that they snapped while you were loading a quad up.

That's cool... he's an old friend of mine. His real name is Robert, but he ended up with Bud/Buddy nickname. He was a tech there for about a year or so. It was probably back about 5 years ago now. He may have got the job through Valley Tech? He was in auto-tech.

after seeing this, im still loading the same way, but im going to get the recall done, and figure out a way to help suport the gate a little.
You know Brad, just because you haven't been doing it doesn't mean it is not suppose to be done I find it easier to load up bikes with it off anyway's

Yeah it sucks but its a lesson learned i'll never forget it. Just glad i didn tget hurt and the quad didnt get fucked up. The tailgate didnt even get a big scratch thank god.

I guess i was lucky considering i didnt have a helmet on either. From now on once its fixed and im laoding it with ramps. I WILL wear my helmet.

xlr, my 72 has straps like that!! good stuff.
Don, i never said it was right or wrong, just never saw it. and like i said, how would i put my bike on there with the gate off?? the bed is to short! my rear tire sits on the tailgate? so what? lift up the bike to put the gate on? it definetly isnt easyier for me. maybe with a rice rocket, they are shorter then my bike, but with the rake on my front end, it dont make it.
either way, this was made to warn people to get the recall done! i tried again, and my dealer said sure, we'll have them next week, so last night when i loaded my 4 wheeler, i crossed my fingers.lol

I go to hillcrest, the same place that has had me waiting for 2 months to fix my heated mirrior, and 2 months to tell me if they can replace one of my wheels because the clear coat is falling off, and 2 months for my brake recall and gate straps, and 4 months to fix my dads Avilanch remote start, and tailgate straps!
i need a new place. lol

damn why you even bother going back the hell with waiting that long for stuff. just think of it as if you need the truck to make money thatd be money they made you lose.

reason i wait is because they used to be great, then most of the guys i knew all left, so i tried them anyway, and it isnt working well.
and the shitty part is, in the last 3 years we have bought 12 cars/trucks from them!

the day after i got the recall notice, one of mine snapped right in half after loading in a couch. tried to get the straps to do it myself but dealer told me had to bring down the truck. such bs but got it done.
