Bill that's exactly why I bought the helmet I did. My car is not radical and without NOS and close to stock I am not terribly concerned of it going up in smoke. However my car will have airbags. The thought of lunging forward in a full face motocross helmet with a big chin piece to get it smacked back with an airbag is very scary. I also race with the SCCA and the better vision of an open face is nice. That being said, if you're far from stock and running in the 10's or so or have any type of NOS system installed, I would definitely get a real full face auto racing helmet. BTW, I have an open face HJC Snell 2000 helmet, $65 at Scott Powersports near Allentown, PA.
