My next door neighbor told me today that his '95 station wagon no longer needs to pass emissions because of a new rule change where he said any car 1995 and older is now exempt from the smog test.

This guy knows nothing about cars and for someone to say a statement like this, I would guess he got some info from somewhere.

Can anyone confirm this ?

Ya that would be out there...It's something like 83 and older doesn't have smog.

96 up just require a obd2 reading u dont need to get on the rollers

1983 and before do not need to pass emmissions. 1996 and up no longer have to be put on the dyno. All other cars still get the sniffer test. Who ever told your friend that doesnt know what he is talking about.

My appologies.
He came back from the inspection and says " My god , They do crazy **** now, they put my car on these rolling log things then smelled my gas cap and shoved a microphone in my exhaust and had a huge fan in front of the car."

So needless to say he got smogged, and I was all happy thinking maybe I can unretire the old Z28.

My bad guys.
