Damn that sucks!!! The guys building my house were complaining that the central air wasn't on yet. I told them to blame the electrician that doesn't show up when he's supposed to. My basement was only 69 degrees. People kept going down there to cool off.

haha, I'm working in the office today, but there is nothing worse than an attic job in the summer. I can remember A/C installs so hot that my clothes were soaking wet after a 1/2 hour and the air is so thick you can't breath. One of my guys brings an old Thermometer to work and puts it in the attic while we're working. it only goes to 120 and it sucks watching it read well beyond that.

Tom, for what its worth, the ac should not be run during construction. if it is be sure to put filters over all the return vents, that **** will clog the coil and freeze the machine and possable flod the ceiling or blow a compressor. it can also void the warrenty. just be carefull.
Mike, you suck, griff, you suck,
Nautilus, when i worked full time in the fiel, i did the same, and as soon as the temp went to 135 i would call it a day. its not fun.
130 in an attic is 10 times worse then 90 outside. Trust me.
you come out of the attice and it is 90, and you are like AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH so cool!

The great thing about this weather is we are adding 7-8 A/C jobs to our schedule every week. Every 3rd phone call is for a/c. Mini splits & space-pak mostly. Problem is we are already 3+ months out and struggling to fit them in. COuld be worse I guess

haha, yup. I love a/c. It's fast and easy $$$$. I wish we could do nothing but high velocity systems. Our guys can do them without too much supervision and we make great profit on them. The best part is we are really one of the only hvac contractors in the area, so the compitition is very small and we maybe 3+ months out, but the smaller guys can't fit them in at all. Congrats on your purchase

compitition here is very hard. we have probably 15 hvac contractors within 20 miles. maybe even more. but only 4 of us are shops. meaning we make our duct, its full time ect ect. most of our comitition is one man bands with no overhead and throw a couple plenums on with a pile of flex and call it a day.
houses for us became money pits. we would bid low to get them, and couldnt bring our selves to do poor work, so now we do 99% high end stuff where people pay alot, but get the best.

Same here, we are no where near your size, but we've got enough over head so that it doesn't make sence for us to try to compete with the 1-2 man operations. Here in Southern VT, we don't work for the locals, we leave that work to the little guys, the profit margin is tight and thats IF they ever pay you. But we are located right between Stratton Mtn, Mt. Snow, Bromley and Manchester, VT. SO 95% of our work is all high end Vacation homes for customers from NY, CT & NJ. Generally 4000-12,000 square ft new construction on and around the Ski area's and small Commercial jobs like mini malls and outlet stores in Manchester. Compitition used to be a little tighter, but has dropped off over the years and as they dropped we picked up most of our old compititions GC's.
