Seriously, what kind of gas would a 8 hp briggs burn if you drove it 52 miles... I'll bet way less then a gallon. That's economy IMO... even if it took C16 to do it.

Joe, I have thought about a toyota or something like that... but the fact that the japs are geting over a grand profit on one of those things... bothers me.

When I buy a car, I walk into the dealer, and offer 100 bucks over factory invoice.... and not a cent more. I don't care if I have to go to 10 dealers to get what it is that I have decided on buying, I refuse to pay one cent more then that... and I've done it 6 times in the last 10 years. The Jap's won't sell a car that much under the sticker, never have, never will. Never mind thefact that we nuked them once, and I really don't wanna contribute to their economy if I can avoid it.

I volkswagon golf TDI, is what I would like to buy. they get about 50 pmg on teh highway, in stock form... and on top of that, I will run it on strait home heating fuel.. so I'll save 50 cents a gallon on top of that. Plus, I'll lighten that car as much as I can... to nurse another 2 to 5 mpg out of it
Not to mention, that diesel, will last as long or longer then anything. 10 years and 300K is lke average on one of those... so that sounds like I'd probably get my $$ worth.

I will probably go look at one though... only because I know that they are built here, and there's some union worker that's making that car.. that will be collecting a fat pension just like all the GM former employees are right now.

A Toyota Corolla gets 41 mpg and it's not a crappy looking car. It'll last forever, had an awesome re-sale vaule incase you get bored of it and wanna ditch it later on. I was thinking of one if my Chevy Cav dies. It's the best 4 cycl car out there in my eyes. It's not even really that small anymore.
My step sister has her 2005 Corolla for sale, just in case JL or anyone was interested.

I personally think everyone should stop complaining about gas prices and be thankful they have a house to live in everyday and food to eat because there are thousands in alabama that dont have a home to go home to nor have eaten in days.. be greatful

Thanks for the offer on the car.. but I think we're gonna wait until after teh first of the year to trade her car in. The wife has a student loan that should be paid for by then, and I'm trying to scrape some coin together for a couple spring projects. After that's done, I think cer car will be getting replaced. Alot of the decision is gonna depend on what I can do about the home heating fuel situation... if I can get the 2nd tank put in my garage when I build it like I wanna, then it's gonna be the diesel..... 50 pmg is hard to beat, and when I'm paying less then regualr 87 for the fuel, that makes it really hard to pass up, especially as we'll be keeping it for a good 8 years or more.

I just through of something over the weekend. I haven't had much time to use my boat this year so it's full of gas from when it was in the mid to high $1.00 range. I'm going to enjoy using that "cheap stuff" someday

Paid $3.89 a gallon to fill one of my cars this morning

wise words. i'd rather pay double the price of gas then lose my home and loved ones anyday. i've been moving into my new house this week and havent had tv or internet so i had no idea what was going on down there until a few days ago. i heard about a hurricane, but i was unaware of the magnitude of this thing. unbelievable.
