Default Finally got a respectable DD

well, I have been driving a 193k mile 1988 Olds touring sedan and finally bough a decent daily driver. I put a deposit on an 03 Grand Cherokee Overland (highest model jeep Grand Cherokee available). Its got 37k miles and has all the goodies (well it does now that I finished negoitiating )

4.7L V8 HO - 265hp/325lb-ft
5 speed auto
Leather
Tow Package
Chrome rims
Navigation/10 disk changer
Heated sats, dual climate conrol, etc.

Its a nice ride...i plan on beating up on unsuspecting rice if they step up

4.7 is a stout engine, shouldn't give you many problems, just make sure you change the oil! For some reason all the x.7s slude oil when it is not changed.

nice ride, make sure u crawl under it and see what is leaking. those grand cherokees are notorious for leaking from front pinion seal, tranny pan, transfer case, and rear differential. just to give ya a heads up

All minor stuff Don't go looking for gaskets when you want to replace half of them cause all we use to seal them with is RTV.

ur right, which is why they start leaking 20k miles later... if chrysler would do it right the first time it wouldnt be a problem. also have them do a 40K service on it before u take deliever. will save ya a few bucks on maintenance

Chrysler is all about saving themselves money. Everything that can be plastic is and RTV used for almost all seals. Someone probably makes a legit gasket for them but I know MOPAR doesn't. Wait till you pull off the door panel for the first time, they'll be 2-3 screws and then 20 plastic tabs holding it They almost always break when you take them off too.

oh believe me i know.... just had to replace a door speaker in one. i gave the dealership the vin # and they couldnt even send me the right speaker... there are gaskets for some of them from like carquest or napa, some not all.... sometimes i have to stoop to the low of RTV.

but back onm topic, enjoy the jeep they are great vehicles as long as maintenance is kept up

I hate our jeep (01 Grand charokee Lmited) 65,000 miles. trans is startin to go. the drivers seat is broken almost in half. needs balljoints, 4 tires. My buddies dad has a 03 with 70K and the engine just blew to peices a few days ago. im not a fan of them at all. Were going to fix ours and get rid of it.

Yikes! That sucks man. My dad has had two V8 jeeps (his current is an 01 Limited V8 with 75k miles on it) and no problems. My step bro had an 02 Laredo V8 with 50k miles, no problems except an axle bearing. My bro has had two I6 Laredos and they both went well inot the 120k mark before he had the trannies rebuilt. I hope I have their luck and not yours.

Congrats on the Jeep! My fiancé and I have been shopping around to entertain the though of a new DD and I used to work for a Chrysler/Jeep dealership, thus I would love to have a Jeep like that! May I ask how much you stole it for? You definitely got the pimp model of all Jeeps there though! I <3 Overlands!

$23 out the door:

Includes the aftermarket RB1 navigation/sattelite radio setup
Rear Cargo mat
Bug Guard
No fees

The best part is I still have the remainder of the 7yr/70k warranty.

Dave, my bro had a cherokee sport and his front bumper faded big time within a year!
