Heating street tires actually works to your disadvantage. By heating up a street tire you are actually making it oily which in turn makes the tire slip more. Kind of the exact opposite of a racing tire.

got hot and sticky roll through the rubber from other tires and it sucks it up for added traction

Are you refering to regular street tires or "dot" approved drag tires? Obviously not having the experiance you have I may be off on this, but from my personal experiances, especially with Z-rated tires, this is what I have found.

Looks like I was referring to street racing and you guys are referring to the track. Hence different angles on the same topic.

If you are driving around the street and come up onto a race,there is no need to heat the tires because they are already hot from driving.Now if your hanging in a parking lot and then line up it is good to do a good burnout and roll it atleast 50'
