LOTS of respect for LVD
I hope that all the talk isnt just talk and that they do something with that place.
Look at what's been done already: New burnout and launch pad, concrete portion from launch pad lengthened out to over 600', new underground drainage installed on left side of track where puddles used to form. Back field area paved for both additional pits and some shows, complete track grinding 2 yrs. ago for smoother running surface, bathroom upgrades within last 5 yrs., new style starting line lights, new timing and scoreboards at finish line within last couple of yrs., increased bleachers for additional seating capacity within last couple of yrs. These are just some of the MAJOR things that have been done at NED over the past few yrs. In order to get NHRA, they may need to move the stands farther back from the track to meet current safety standards, and more asphalt in pit area on both sides of track. Like I said, time will tell. There are big problems up there w/neighbors regarding noise. Get ready for mufflers--just like Englishtown on all the doorslammer stuff. That means decibel meters and QUIET mufflers. Or, it might even close and become a housing development, like so many other drag strips have done across the country.... Let's hope that doesn't happen. WJ
