I got the best XMAS present ever today As you all may remember I lost my job of 9 years just about 3 months ago.
Just a little over a month ago a company I sent my resume to called me & performed a 30 minute phone interview.
I ended up going through 4 call back interviews, each one tougher than the previous interview.
Yesterday I got a phone call offering me the position & today as promised, it was backed up in writing with a confirmation email!
What's even sweeter aside from only being unemployed 3 months, they offered me more $$ than my previous company paid me & it's only 5 minutes further away than my previous company!
This means my commute will be a tough 15 minute drive vs. a 10 minute drive.
I thought the $$ was great not because it's a job, but because they knew I was unemployed & could have really low balled me thinking I'd be desperate & take whatever offer they gave.
I can now enjoy the upcoming holiday.

Congrats man, good luck with the job. I now need to look for a 2nd job to pay off what I did to my car. Have fun at the new job, best of luck to yah

Thats great Butch, glad to hear you got another job. My dad had the same thing happen to him except the job he ended up getting is in Maryland which obviously isn't a daily commute job. Glad you were able to get a good job that is only 5 min past your last job.

Mike & Marcel, your just jealous of my paint!
Jammer, I know they "lowballed" me their way, every company does it, but what I meant was they didn't obviously & stupidly lowball me with an offer of the same as, or less than I was previously earning.
The gave me more than I expected & being unemployed, you usually don't much to negotiate with, & that they know.

congrats, and i feel much the same you do, about my situation
got "downsized" on november 9th, and am starting a new job (also more paying
) next monday
definitely feels like the best present
