Default Apprenticeship Search.

Um, yes. Hello. I'm searching for an apprenticeship within Philadelphia, PA.
I am 16 years old and I love everything to do with cars. I live in the Mayfair section of the city. If you or anyone you know is looking for young, hardworking, interested people to work at your/their shop in the Mayfair area or close to it, please let me know.

Please teach me all that you can, you won't regret it.
If you have any questions, then send me a private message.

You might find it hard to get a job working on cars at 16, too many labor laws etc. Your best bet is to find a mom and pop garage, perhaps you can get an off the books job. Are you taking any auto classes in school? You might be able to get a job through a co-op or similar. The good news is with a co-op is the schools insurance will cover you, and it's pretty much the only way around the labor laws.

Good luck

I'm not trying to have a real job with this yet. I just want to learn what I can. Umm, I don't know of any public high school in Philadelphia that offers anything to do with automechanics. As said before, I'll see what the local chain-tune-up shops say.

Thanks for the luck.

2 miles isn't far. People will bash on Jiffy Lube but there is general knowledge to be had there, plus it's money in your pocket for easy work.

Nothing wrong with starting at the J-lube, it will at least get you used to setting cars up on lifts, etc.

Again, he'll probably have a hard time getting into a chain store due to his age. Some of those are corperate and many have to obide by franchise policies.

I have no problem starting at a Jiffy Lube. It i still information I want to know.

Franchise policies? Aww, that's not cool.

Well, it shouldn't be raining tomorrow, so I'll see what they say.

2 miles is kind of far if you're just trying to find out if they'll even accept you. Espicially when you don't want to spend any money on overpriced SEPTA or if you're walking. My bike is broken. The whole rear tire is fudged up too much. And I can't ask for a ride from my parents. But as said before, I'll see what the places nearby say. Do you guys think Cottman Transmission on Frankford Ave would accept me?

good luck finding something. i searched long and hard, and didnt really have luck. not to mention i have an fbody, and know enough to get by.
basically, places really dont want extra bodies just sitting around the shop, not able to do any of the real work. its just getting in the way.

Not many places in Philly have peopel that pump gas for you. I only know of one in my area, and it's not doing too good by the look of the Hess across the street. The Hess has x2 people at it at all times. It's not a bad idea.
