Boris you have no idea. Let's put it this way, when we bought the house we are living in , we looked at it like it wasn't the idea/best house, but would do for a while, we could fix it up and eventually sell it, and make some $ off it, and it was better then paying rent, at least we would get this $ back, and if one of us lost our jobs, we could float by for a while on one income.. well we're on one income now, her law office split up and the partner that she went with promised her the world, well transition period is over and now there's no need for her anymore, she set up the office and got everythign off and running smooth in the new place, now they are letting her and another girl in the office go, and are getting 2 new people that will be getting less then 1/2 the $ she was. Wife's already got interviews and stuff, not bad for only being out of work for 2 days, and they still have to pay her for her 3 weeks vacation, so that's 3 weeks to go before the loss really hits, but she has to get them to pay her for the time, and that's gonna be a fight because teh guy's a cheapass and makes up the rules as he goes... bottom line, our income just got cut in 1/2, making the bills alone is gonna be tough, never mind a cent on anythign extra. Not even sure if the $ I had set aside for the tranny swap will happen now I'd say it can't get worse, but my work got bought out a few months ago, and some bean counters are coming end of this month to look at our place, noone's even seen it yet, so I'm not in a good situation either. There's no fat to trim off here really, there's only 5 of us that work here, but that's the other issue, how hard is it to pack up a 5 man operation and move it is my biggest worry right now. I lose this after she just lost hers, we're screwed like you read about.

Sorry, little rant is over.

I understand where your coming from. I hope all turns out well for you. It's easier said than done, but try not to worry too much, it will drive you crazy. It sounds like your wife/girl has a good head on her shoulders and is taking acvtive measures to help rectify the situation. I had bean counters at my work all of last year and I heard all kinds of rumors about selling. Still with my company, thank god. Sometimes bean counters come around to update records. The good thing is that in this beutiful country that we live in unemployment exists for this reason. It may not be as much as your making by working, but it's a help until you can get onyour feet. If wors does come to worst inquire about severance pay. That will help also. Keep your chin up and your chest forward. All will work out for the better.

JL,

that blows man... i'm looking to buy a house myself, but i haven't been finding jobs with the most stable of companies, so i'm pretty nervous about increasing my bills by that much. but in todays crazy world, you never do know how secure your job is. i thought i was untouchable at my old job back home, but when the company started going south, they found fat to trim.

The only concern I have eith my job is if they decide to pack this part of it up and move it.. and if they do, it's most likly going to alameda california.. and there's not much of a chance that I will go there even if offered, simply because of the smog ****'s, and all the other BS that goes on out there.. no thanks. Wife already has an interview today, and she just got let go on Monday, so that's agood sign. I have faith that she will find something relativly quick, I just hope that it ends up being better then her last job.. she never really did like it there, esp. after the partnership broke up, it really went down hill from there. Maybe she will get lucky and find a better one, maybe even more $.... but at this point, I'm just hoping it's somethign that she likes and was comperable $ to what she was doing so we can stay on track with the home improvments and whatnot.

Not entirely true.. my work offered to let me work an extra 10 hrs a week to try to help cover, so I don't have to find another part time job... I'm gonna take it until I find something, so they're not all bad.

Just sucks, once I start that crap that I might have 4 hours of sleep a night again.. but I guess we do what we have to. Car stuff is gonna end up on hold I think.. I'll probably get the tranny swap done and that will be about it, still need tires and stuff and there's not gonna be $ for that unless the situation changes quick... I really want to make some runs this year too I guess it could be worse though.. if I can' get any in this spring before the air is complete ****, I'll hopefully be able to get some in this fall anyway, and will give me some more time to get the weight reduction stuff done too.

At this point, I'll take what I can get. At what I make per hour, 2 hours a day at time and a half is better then working 5 hours a day at 8 bucks an hour like the average mindless part time job pays.

I'm still looking for a part timer though.. if I can find one at 12 to 14 an hour and about 20 to 25 hrs a week I'll take it, and keep working the ot at my primary anyway.

True. It's better to get some overtime, than a part time if your going to make more working overtime and less hours.
