it kind of sucks hard when youve been unemployed for almost five months and you have to pay bills/college and your daily driver is shitting the bed. Hopefully ill get lucky soon.

 

either that or I won't be able to afford to put the TA back on insurance this spring

 

yup, for the most part. It's too bad it has to be that way.

Things will turn around for you. Don't give up, thats the most important life lesson.

 

Life's hardest and best learned lessons can never be taught in a classroom... same goes for getting a good paying job for the most part. The people I knwo that make the most $ are all either self employed, or got the job by knowing someone.

You'll find something.... sometimes it takes time. What is it that you are looking for?

An internship anywhere really. Go figure, my resume is with about 15 companies and the only ones I hear back from are ones that I have a friend or family member that works there. Hopefully I'll hear back from somebody soon..

Its true, which is why networking is extremely important anywhere you go. I'm pursuing an different position at my employer because I happened to take a career advancement class the company offered, and out of blind luck sat next to a guy who had come from the department I wanted to get into and was a 1st level manager. He name dropped me to his old boss (a 2nd level manager), told the guy I was interested, I called him and got set up with an opportunity.

I got an interview when my aunt submitted my resume. And then the guy who ended up hiring me was also a DU alumni at another college. Not saying that guaranteed it, but probably didn't hurt.

i know the feeling, i sent my resume out to about that many companies before i got a hit, if you lived colser i could try and get you a job at my place, it is all mechanical engineering and aerospace.

Next you'll learn, it's not who you know.....it's who you blow.

Keep your chin up. You'll find something, let the T/A sit until you can afford to bring it out. No need to over extend yourself over a car. I take it that your schedule is to full for a part time job that's not an intership?

What area are you looking to work in? Internship, so paid & if so what range? I know quite a few Engineers, & work with several different co.'s. Sterns & wheeler, I believe is in your area?

 

Steph- Think about it this way:

At least your not in some crappy comunity college and working a dead end job for a bunch of royal a**holes, just to aford the insurance and gas for your car. (Thats my life)

All I'm saying is things could be worse, so look on the bright side and you'll find a good job sooner or later.

 

My older brother went to college for 4 years, had his CCNA cert and worked for the government for years and he couldn’t find a job for the life of him. I told him what I went through time and time again....just apply and wait, apply and wait, apply and wait. It's weird but I guess the job scene really does suck, I remember when I was younger and didn’t know jack squat about stuff within my field, I always had a job offer. My average time at a job was 9 months and only that long because I kept waiting to see who was offering a job the following week. Don't you remember me getting all pissed off about trying to find the job I'm at now. It took like a year and nine months. Jobs, well good jobs take time but they are out there and always find the right person, trust me on this one. Someone in your shoes is much better off than alot of others with college exp, being young and proof that you can learn on a higher level.

You'll def have a job, no matter how much you hate waiting sometimes you have to. Stay on top of it but don’t lose sleep over it, you can only do what’s humanely possibly then you just have to sit back and wait.

 

BTW, is your school helping? It sounds gay but they usually have places that will hold a slot for a student from their school. Most of the time the interview is a joke and all of the arrangements are already all set.

That's if your school has a placement program.
