Shifter Kart
Hey guys i'm from CT and was wondering if anyone knows where me and a couple buddies of mine could rent some shifter karts and do some laps in the area. Anyone ever do this? I'm huge into racing and would love to get some experience i think it would be a BLAST. If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be awesome.
I've seen some that are pretty pricey for mostly classes , im assuming i have to do some classes first but i also want to get out on that track and do some laps with my friends.

think of a go-cart slammed to the groudn with tiny wheels and a 125CC engine strapped to it with no suspension. Now add insane handling and 120 MPH and a shifter.. and you have yourself a shifter kart.. www.video.google.com search for kart. they don't mess around!

you cant just hop into a shifter kart. you need a class 1 liscense through WKA.
pm me and ill send you all the info you need.
PS. the 250 shifter karts have been clocked at 160mph at Daytona.
I race w/ the Woodbridge kart club in WV.

I agree... not cheap, but fun none the less. I work about 5 min from there.. haven't been in a while, used to have my name on the top 25 for a long time when the place first opened... then they went to a real hard tire so they would last longer.. never could get a hold with those like the others.. with teh soft tires, you could run the car full throttle all the way around the track, was awesome.

this places rents you the karts and you race against other teams. you just show up and pay and race with your own team:

they do it in lime rock, CT and etown too i think. 4 or 6 hour endurance racing.

too bad a gixxer kart cant compete in any class.
the unlimited class' only restriction is that you cant have more than 300cc 2-stroke or 450cc for a 4-stroke.
i can get anyone a ride in a kart minus a shifter for 20mins during a fun finale which lets friends and family try it out for like 20 bucks. around Summit Point Raceway. 2 mile 10 turn track

I wonder if you could destroke a 600 bike motor to 450 CC, Probably have to actually cut the top of the block down to do it, and shorten the timing chain... but if it would work, then that would be the shizzit.... probably spin about 15000 rpm and have top end like none other... at least not a legal motor. Someone should look into that.
