I finally put my front plate on. I don't need to be pulled over for something so stupid. I laugh every time I watch cops. They pull someone over for something small like a burned out license plate bulb so they can look for something bigger.

Imagine if your front plate got lost or damaged? Hum... it would probably take them a few months to issue a replacement and I think that would only be about $15. It would sure s*ck if it happened during the summer when your most likely to get a ticket...

Thats why you gotta hold onto the green plates for dear life like me! I have 3 of them, one for my camaro, one for my 03 navigator and one I just keep around in case I get another car.

yea I had limo tinted windows for 2 years with no problems, then all of a sudden one day on my way to my college I see this state trooper parked at this work detail right near the exit I take. He actually hoped into his car and followed me all the way to my school and gave me a ticket for $250 bucks but said if I showed up to court with evidence that the tint was removed the fine would be dropped. However, later that day I got hit by some lady in the side of my car near the gas tank so it went to the body shop the next day (one of my best friends fathers owns the shop). So a couple days later he goes to get pics of the car done at the insurance company and he is on the same highway and gets pulled over BY THE SAME STATE TROOPER! He bitches at the guy saying he told me to get the windows peeled and when he tries to explain that the car got hit the same day and he took it in the next day for repairs he goes "fine, well heres another $250 ticket, make sure he gets the windows peeled!" Then he went over to the pasangers side dorr, opened it, and scraped my inspection sticker off with his huge bowie (sp?) knife. ******* scratched the **** out of the inside of my windsheild the bastard. Went to court with pics and recipts for the tint being removed and the fines were dropped, but such a pain in the ***.

Did you sue him for the damage to your windshield? He could have used his hand instead.

Nah I didnt bother, I was just glad they dropped the $500 worth of fines as he was a total bastard. He even looked underneath my car and wanted to write me a ticket because he said my cars was "supposed" to have 4 cats? I told him no its 2 cats and after arguing with me for like 5 mins over it he said ok and let me go.

Yea I totally understand the safety factor with limo tint windows. My uncle was police cheif of Auburn, Mass for like 20 years and I have friends and relatives who are state troopers so I can understand the issue. Its just the fact that he wanted to make it a huge issue even though he ran my plates and license and I have zero tickets in my lifetime and have never been arrested, written up for anything, etc. Plus, when he pulled the body shop guy over in my car he even had the accident report with him, as I gave him a copy just to ensure there would be no issues if he got pulled over again, and the state trooper looks at it and goes "still he should have had the windows peeled", even though he said I just needed to have them peeled by the court date, which was in like a month...Again I know he is doing his job but when I went to court to have the fines dropped even the judge was kind of shocked that he did that to me. I had picks of my scratched windsheild, the accident report, etc and the case lasted like 2 mins before the judge just dropped all the fines. It just irritates me that people will go out of their way to make things difficult for someone else.

I don't even think it's a legitimate officer safety issue either. If you set out with the intent of shooting an officer there are plenty of other ways to do it, not to mention vehicles that can still get away with having parts of the passenger compartment concealed (vans, suvs with the back half tinted, etc). I think it's just one more way to hassle enthusiasts for them to tack on to the ever-growing list.

exactly.

i got nailed last summer on the Berlin Turnpike (Hartford, CT), $30 fine, worst part was the 35 minutes they had me pulled over right near the cruise show i was going to. it was very embarassing to have 4 cops pawing all over my car like i was some felon.

my solution for this year: i applied for some cool vanity plates, figuring, if i had a cool front plate it would offset the uglyness of that piece of metal dangling out there.

i dont want any more hassles and they are stepping up this enforcement out here, my neighbor in his urban dont-notice-me-mobile got a ticket last week same thing.

I've gotten 2 warnings in the same night about 2 years ago.. and I still refuse to put it on. Should something ever happen where I need to actually put it on (like inspection or something) it would go on the lower air dam... not that it would be visable at all now that the front of the car is lowered a little and the rear is sitting a up some more from tire hieght.

Yes but its a stupid one and serves no purpose. People should bring up the waste of money it is for front plates and tell the state they can save money just buy issuing 1 plate instaed of 2. Thats what its all about anyway is money. I found it interesting that when I drive by a few Police stations around here I notice the personal cars in the lots and some of them dont have front plates. I havent been harassed yet about it though around here.

Same with seatbelts, who the F is the state to tell me what I can and cant do inside my own car and with my own safety and life? They should drop that stupid law (they wont cuz its another huge moneymaker) and just have a REAL way to suggest people wear them. If insurance companies wouldnt cover you in an accident if you didnt have your seat belt on that would be a MUCH better way of getting people to wear them.

IT's THE LAW is THE WORST line they ever came up with but they had to use it because there is no other EXCUSE for it. Pretty Pathetic.

Its a shame that there are some cops out there trying to really make a difference and get dangerous people off the streets while trying to protect the honest hard working ones while other cops just write tickets like a machine. Well guess what? Keep the latter up and thats what you will be replaced by....and its already started.
