Spec 3 is great for stock pedal and street/strip. The Textraila has been popular but i dont see why to stray from the inexpensive and reconmended Spec. Get a 4i or higher if you race only.

Thanks for all the replies, So far i've heard the least negative about mcleod and spec so thats what i'm leaning towards, closer to mcleods twin disc b/c it has the heavy pedal i'm looking for. Any other input welcome, i'll be ordering one of the two first thing next week.

alright, reconsidering spec, does anyone know the reason behind all the threads ive been finding w/ nightmares in regards to specs not disengaging/blowing up./slipping after 1000 miles etc etc? Otherwise, if i go w/ spec, should i do an adj. master still? I'll do the 01 slave, if it works the mcleod adj. master and steel flywheel? Sound good?

Run stock 01+ hydrolics. The Mcleod master sucks ***.

alot of it has to do with being probbly the best selling clutch out there ontop of poor installs that you get the horror stories from. the torqueing down of the pressure plate and flywheel are very critical along with the use of loctite

Yeah, I think your seeing some fallout from improperly done installs. Listen to slowhawk, your getting very good free tech advice. I have new 01+ hydraulics/ slave new flywheel and i drilled the line. Works awseome andhas 5000k miles on it. The people at Spec in Alabama or wherever are super cool and will stand behind their ****.

Ok, sounds like i might go w/ the spec, why can i get away w/ stock hydraulics w/ a spec but every other clutch co. says to get adj. hydraulics and 01+slave?

I had Ram and Mcleod and dont recommend them....ever...

I had no issues with a Spec S3 with way more power than the other two. You should upgrade to the 01 hydraulics. It all has to do with the clutch fingers and material...Spec most closely resembles stock in pressure to disengage...not clamp..

The reason I got the spec was becuase of the problems I had with adjustabe masters.

I was thinking of going with the ls7 clutch and ls2 flywheel but now this thread is making me consider spec 3. I can get the lighter steel billet flywheel with the spec and seems pretty reliable, which is all I need. Autox and seekonk speedway driver here
