Default Looking for a 3.42 10 bolt?

Does anyone have a 3.42 10 bolt? I would prefer one without TCS. If it has TCS I will still consider it if my guy can get it to work or if I can decide to live with some lights on the dash.

Joe: Don's first post regarding your car said it had a 3.23 gearset. Your post said the car has 2.73's. You have the beefier 3.23 carrier, or no? Just cause there a ton of both 3.42 and 3.73 gearsets in "parts FS section" here--some real cheap. If you've got the small carrier....ng, but do a search on 3.42 ring and pinion, and 3.73...A bunch come up--some genuine GM gearsets....3.73's probably won't live as long as the 3.42's in 10 bolt w/your stall & good tires. My car went thru traps only around 4500 w/3.23's--not quite what you want, especially if you change your cam and do the heads....Anyway, am sure you and Don have already thrown all this stuff around... Hey DIESO, try PMing John (My84Z) I know he had a bunch of 10 bolts that he was collecting. He may have just what you're looking for.

Warren - I remember the little rhyme in my head "2.73 is a baby 3.73". I'm 99.99% sure I have a 2.73 rear. Don said unless I forget which isnt rare) it's the smaller housing and I would even need too many new parts to make it really worth it $$$ wise. Don told me just to look for another seperate 3.42 3 channel 10 bolt.

We were thinking of a real (12 bolt or 9 inch) rear with a 3.73 as well. Right now I just want to add a couple of bolt on's to make the car a little more stout but cut some impressive times for next to nothing in mods. These autos seem to be really efficent so I want to get the most out of suspension, chasis and drivetrain mods then when I'm content I'll add a bunch of power mods... which will probably be the day after my first track event.

I want to run @ LVD. I'll cut slower times but I'll get alot more time behind the wheel.

Maaaan I need a dining room table, I need a new hot water heater (you need to check the wiring) because I hate cold showers and other stuff that cost money. Setbacks Don setbacks, all of this everyday crap is nothing but another setback.

I want the 10 bolt just to carry me over for a little while.

Right, 2.73 is smaller carrier. Someone around here should have a quiet 3.23 or 3.42 10 bolt laying around to help you out...... WJ

Joe - I still have the 10-bolt out of my 1997 Trans Am. It has 25,xxx miles on it, 3.42 stock gears, 3-channel (no ABS), passenger side axle was replaced at 18,000 miles (thought the stock one was bent). It has never seen the strip, just the usual lead-footed street driving, no noise or problems that I'm aware of.

It's yours for $100, and I'll throw in a pair of BMR bolt-in lower control arm mounts for free... how's that strike ya!

Hey joe, if you don't find anything soon and you don't mind waiting there is a good chance I will have a 3.73 geared 10 bolt with a stud kit and TA girdle available by the end of the winter.
