Default Got my car back from TTP

I got my car back from TTP this weekend. And Im one happy camper =). The car went into TTP for AFR heads and I coudnt be happier with the results.

First a little background. I purchased the car over the summer of 2004 after it had been sitting for almost 3 years. The car was totaled at that point and I began a slow process of putting the car back together. After getting a salvage vehicle inspection and getting the car registered I let TTP start working on the engine, which had been extensively modified when I got it. The engine originally had Doug Rippie Motorsports Stage 1 heads, a Vette Doctors Cam (equivalent to the MTI B1 cam 221/221 112LSA i think) and Mac Mid Length Headers. This was an excellent combination when it was put together in 2001 (the car ran 12.35 at 116, spinning on nittos.) However, the gas mileage wasnt great and I thought the car could make more power by taking advantage of some of the new products and technology in the world of aftermarket performance parts. In no way am I intending to bash any of the sponsers (DRM or Vette Doctors.) For a car assembled in 2001, I feel it was extremely fast and it was very fun to drive.

Over the last year TTP has installed the following modifications for me.

1) Kooks 1 3/4" long tubes with an off road Y pipe. I left the stock exhaust and added a manual cut out.

2) They installed a thunder racing cheaTR cam, and valve springs to go along with the cam.

3) They have just finished putting AFR heads on the car.

4) Last but certainly not least, Matt from TTP tuned the car

The car made 390 rwhp. I cant remember the torque number off the top of my head, but it was very high. The car also drives much smoother, probably due to the much smaller cam and the gas mileage has greatly improved. This is still with the stock MAF and LS1 intake. Hopefully once I get an LS6 intake and new MAF the car will make over 400 rwhp and I will be able to get 25 mpg on the highway.

All in all I'm very happy with TTP. The service there is great. All the guys in the shop are very knowledgeable and do excellent work. I want to extend a huge thank you to everyone at TTP and everyone at all the other sponsors I mentioned. Because of your hard work my car hauls a**.

These cars still amaze me everytime I get into one. After seeing some of the numbers that other forum members are running, I am always amazed at how tame the engines are for daily driving. Mine drives like a stock engine and makes almost 400 rwhp.

Anyway A huge thanks to TTP and everyone else who makes the aftermarket world possible. Without you all we would probably have a lot more depressed people in the world =).

I run a max of 28 degrees on NA street car motors. This of course depends on scanning on the car and seeing if there is any knock and adjusting accordingly.

Thanks Rob we are glad you are happy with the car and the service.

All in all I'm very happy with TTP..
Just to keep this in perspective, the Mazda RX8 (1.3L Rotary) gets 16-18 mpg!!

Very nice to have a Muscle Car which sounds & runs nice with gas milage that rivals a 3000 lb, 1.4L car. TTP are great guys in my book.. they try very hard to do the right thing.

Man please get an ls6 intake for 300 bucks or so!! The car is starving for air. With those heads, i wouldn't be surprised if you gained around 25rwhp.
