Since I was asked - 3 month cam/LT install by TTP
Just to clarify - I do not need someone else to fight my battles for me, I just didn't feel it was necessary to call anyone out..After everything that happened over those 3 months I did not post up anything about my experience or bitch about waiting 3 months for my car...but since you asked:
I dropped the vette off August 24 to have a cam package and LT headers installed. I didn't get back a car that was DRIVABLE until Mid October.
The headers were ordered from TSP with the connection pipes and matt told me that they were really made by Pacesetter...semantics.
We agreed upon and signed the receipt for the quoted price for the cam/springs/header/connection pipe - [at that time I mentioned that they were the tapered kind and you assured me it wouldn't be an issue] install (which included a few other misc parts) OUT THE DOOR - any issues with how long it took withstanding, the additional charge for the labor and welding was not agreed upon or told to me until I showed up to pick the car up for the first time (but I'll get to that in a minute)
True - 4 hours of labor to work through the issues which was solved by putting in a new ground - all to fix a problem which did not exist before I brought in the car -> I'm still struggling to understand why I had to pay for (albeit at a discounted rate) a problem which was caused during work which you performed!!??
This is where I went to pick the car up for the first time after having a 3-4 day job turn into a 3-4 week install. I was understanding and tried to be patient as they were moving shop locations but after a few "it'll be done in a day or so...I'll give you a call" you kinda get a bit frustrated.
I was hit with the extra charges to weld the pipes/fix the fuel pump problem, I was pissed but paid them because at that point I just wanted my car back.
As I pulled out of the shop the car was surging real bad, loading up and would not drive unless I was at WOT. Any pressure on the gas would cause the car to load up and then explode forward...I barely made it the hour + drive back to work. The only reason I drove back was because a co-worker took the trip with me and we were already on a 2.5 hour "lunch break" and I had no choice.
Called the shop and Jake told me that he could hear how rough the car was driving over the speaker phone!! Brought it back in the next day (another 3 hour round trip) and Jon took it out and couldn't believe it. "The car is terrible, it's not drivable" is what he said as i was with him on the test drive.
matt said "we'll take care of it ASAP" Two weeks go by...finally told to come in Second time and he'll rearrange his schedule to take care of it. Got there at 1, waited till 11pm car still not running. A group did manage to come in for a dyno rental though.
Matt did go out of his way (~1.5 hour drive) to get me back to work so that I could drive to the airport that night to pick my GF up. I was very appreciative of that.
Went by the shop the next week and was there for a few hours, matt and I went out driving and with his laptop going over the tune/trims etc...find the problem with fuel trims. Plays with the tune so that i can at least drive it home since I was dropped off and wants to schedule autotech to come in and look at the car to fix the problem.
Make it home, but car start loading up again, luckily it was during the last few miles - undrivable. Tell matt and he arranges to come pick the car up with his trailer and bring it back to the shop to fix the O2 sensor issue.
Takes a week to get autotech in (no prob) to take a look at the car, Issue fixed and paid for by Matt..."Just want to retune it from scratch to make sure everything is taken care of" - OK
Wait for three more days, "we'll take care of it tomorrow..."
Dyno tune was not to fix "lack of power", the car has to actually be drivable first (solved by Autotech) before looking for more power and you told me that you wanted to retune the car from scratch to make sure it was perfect. - How could you justify I be charged for dyno time and labor to fix and issue which occurred during everything we went through?
The issues about the dyno numbers are a whole nother story. Was told mid 370s when I picked up the car - no dyno sheet, we'll email you...waited a week or so, finally went by the shop and got a graph with 353 RWHP SAE, uncorrected numbers are ~365. No one can guarantee number so i'm not even going to go there...just stating what it is
Issue is that it took 3 months and ~$1300 over the OUT THE DOOR price to get my car running right when I was told it was running perfect when I came to pick it up the first time. All the issues over the following weeks with the car didn't suddenly develop when it was warming up in the driveway??
Sure I was cut a "break" on some of the extra work and parts to get everything right and you offered me a free detail and dyno time for the car, the only reason I was happy when i left was because I finally had my car back after 3 months. There were several cars which were in and out during the time I was there, especially a few special camaros...
The end result left me with such a bitter taste in my mouth that i'll have a had time ever trusting my car to any shop again. Yes I know it's a risk with performance stuff but when I think about the $4000 I spent to go from 310 to 353 rwhp and the 3 months it took I get sick...how would you feel!?
BTW - I was told that a ton of miles were put on the car (had to refill the tank too) by matt personally after autotech came to make sure the car was perfect. I'm not sure knew this but I wrote down the mileage and gas level when you picked the car up on the trailer (Mileage 56056, gas - 1/4).
When I finally came to pick up the car and drove away "happy" (Mileage 56068, gas 1/4)
I didn't call you on any BS at the shop or on any of the boards because I didn't think I needed to...
I do want to take my hat off to Jon and Nick though because they stayed really late the nights I was there trying to help - That's what the beer was for boys
OK i'm done, Don't want to cause a hugh thing which is why i avoided bringing this up in the first place but i wanted to clearly explain it is what it is

Dukekid: Christian I appreciate your opinion on this fact. But once again, this should have been brought DIRECTLY to me before the message boards. Ask questions as to what is on your bill, I have NO problem explaining every single line item and working with you if there is a problem. We gave you a couple of free o2's, some other things for free, and you gave up a lot of time with your car. Both parties got "robbed" in this case. I am, once again, more than willing to look over any bills that you have and explain them.
But what people don't understand is this... I try to go out of my way for each one of my customer's, but when you bring these issues to the message boards it makes my job a lot harder to please you. Then we will have all the idiots posting in this subject and make everything harder for us two to communicate and rectify any situations.
Once again, any problems contact me direct but if I defend myself on some of these issues we will get into a board fight once again and I think I have enough drama for the day. Christian, you have my personal cell phone number, use it if you have questions please. I have no problem extending to you some discounts on further installs or what-not to rectify this ordeal.
Just remember this though, due to the parts provided there were problems with the installation, once again this is why I do not like installing other parts. We also did not start work on your car the day it came in because we were moving, well then my landlord tells me you have to be out gone this day when I had plans that we could make an easy transition. Once again, this is not your problem.
I commend you thanking my guys for their work. I just wish things could have gone differently between us. You really NEEDED to call me a long time ago to express these concerns. How can I remedy a situation when I don't know that there is a problem?!?!
And I am sorry about the misquote in horsepower numbers. Unfortunately it is what it is. I am not trying to sound like a hard *** on this issue, but once again if I had misquoted you a different number I do stand corrected. But I cannot guarantee power (Especially on these headers since I have never used them before). You can also think into this, the car may be down on power from other issues going on. If you would like me to check the car out, I invite you to come down on a Saturday (I assume your day off from the new job?), I will complete a compression test and leakdown test in front of you so we can just check everything out. This can all be done for free and I will have the car washed/waxed as promised. And we can also talk about some of the other financial concerns you have had.
