Default Car shopping #2.........

Well I test drove a (01) Z06 this weekend,had it for about 2 hrs..
My impression our its awesome, tight as can be and plenty fast, only problem is my left leg is just not gonna justify a stick...Driving for over and hr in traffic I started to have some issues wth muscle contol, leg shaking etc..My left leg for those of u that dont know was crushed in DONORCYCLE accident in 93 and has had 12 surgeries to correct it...It works very well but its not gonna cut a stick car.

I was kinda bummed returning the car as the dealer was nice enough to let me take it out for a couple hours but he did say he has the vert A4 and a few coupes were on the lot with low miles..My question,if it came down to a coupe A4 or ragtop A4 which route would u go?

I'm actually leaning towards the coupe but there is a guy who makes a custom hartop for ragtops that makes it into a fixed roof...He fiberglasses a tonneau cover to a Z06 hartop...Its $2800 but then I'd have the look of a fixed roof and the advantage of a rag too...

What do u think???

Im really considering a c6 vert as a new ride. Another option for you is to swap to an A4 on a ZO6 and have a rare car. If i was going to get an 01 ZO6-speedway white is the only choice otherwise id get an 02 with the larger cam and some small susp tweeks that GM added.

i think itd be easier/cheaper to add a MILD h/c setup to a c5 than swaping an auto inplace of a stick
then get ther hardtop vert setup and youll have everything

Oh sure making a c5 faster is easier than a trans swap im just going for coolness factor.

I was wondering about that when you first mentioned that you were looking at Z06s, I was afraid that it might turn out to be an issue for ya. Like you, I too would be in a manual trans car for sure if physical limitations didn't hinder it but this six speed automatic Corvette certainly eases some of that pain.

I like that approach, best of ALL worlds. Allows you to run at the track (if you ever planned on running it) deep into the 11s too, with the soft top only you'd likely be flagged on the first pass.

Get a coupe. Most of the roof comes off and stores nicely in the back. You know you will be dragging the car. The only downfall of Vette's is that the drivetrains are POS's.They always break when good power is added.
