My RX7 swap
My RX7 swap Sunday i picked up a 87 Turbo II.It has 97K miles on it and is in good condition for the year of it.The engine smokes but i was told it is just the turbo.I am selling the Motor/trans so PM me if you are interested.I bought it to do a swap and put some real power under the hood .Heres a few pictures of the car:

Sweet man, Its really going to be funny when you pull up to someone at a stop light lookin at yea wondering, you tell them with your modified Loud Mouth, its a v6 with an a exhaust leak, and your also boost creepin... :LOL:
Thanks.I will keep you all posted but it will be a few months.I cant wait to see the confused look on the ricers faces when they see and hear my car whens it done.LOL
As for the motor i plan to replace the rodbolts with kaytech ones,LS6 oil pump,Home ported stock heads,ARP headstudes,a big cam, supporting valvetrain, LS6 intake,and a ported throttle body.And for exhaust i am doing longtube headers into 2.5 inch pipes with x pipe and a straight through style mufflers.No cats because i want it to be heard.I am shooting for 400 RWHP which i dont think will be to hard to get with the right cam.
Tomarro i am going to finish degreasing the underside of the car.Grease sticks on there pretty good after 20 years.

Did you weigh the car before removing the rotary? Or, do you know what the car did weigh, less driver? Interesting to see what weight diff will be between rotary motor, trans, and LS1 and T56 installed in car...Do those RX's have wimpy rear axles? WJ.

Verdad Gallardo WJ SOM SS I did not weigh the car but i am shooting to keep the completed weight around 2800 pounds.And i dont think i will have a problem with the rear.In the 87-88 TII they have a 8 inch clutch type diff with 4.10s.There are guys running nines with this rear.Traction will be a problem though.I am going to replace all suspension bushings and put some drag radials on it which should help out a lot.

I am going to use grannys mount kit.I cleaned the underside of the car and primered the tunnel so far.I am not sure if i am going to paint it white or black.Luckily the car had alot of oil and grease on the floorboards so nothing is rusted out.Heres a picture.
Yea it turned out good.I have quite a few hours tied up in cleaning it.I used degreaser,brake cleaner,and a lot of rags.I want the underside to look as good as the outside or it would just be something that bothered me.It is also easier to work on a clean car.
Progress has been slow.I sold enough off the donor firebird to only have about $2600 in my motor tranny setup and still have a couple hundred dollars worth of parts to sell.I decided i am going with the Trex cam.It should go good with a light car and might help with the traction problem.My mount kit and driveshaft finally got here.Heres a picture.
