I was watching the Speed channel yesterday when they were talking about Hamlin. The kid just bought a new jet. One year on the circuit Nascar has money coming out it's ears. Montoya is a smart man.

i dont watch nascar on tv, but if you ever go to a race, especially a big race like daytona, its exciting, and gives u chills. any car guy, into the sport or not would get pumped seeing cars fly by at 200 mph, i dont care what you say. unless u've been there, u cant say otherwise. and i maybe watch PART of 2 or 3 races a year

There aren't many things better in life than going to the saturday night race in Darlington surrounded by drunk white trailer trash chicks. Got my race and plane tickets already The day they take away the last race date from Darlington is the day I stop watching Nascar.

i couldnt have said it better myself...i go to Loudon every year and ill tell u what those cars are going about 150 at the end of the straight, on the tv they look as if there doing about 45-50...150 160 170 180 190 is a lot faster than we think...

I went to Daytona and Watkins Glen- this sport (like hockey) is way better LIVE.

HOWEVER- it is AWSOME in HD-TV with surround sound!

Grand Am and the World Rally Championship I'll agree with you on. There is a **** load of close races and exicment in the resurgnece of sports cars. Rally is simply amazing at the car control those guys have.

F1...not so much, as it's so technical and most of the races are not closely contested.

harvick guy myself, although he just switched his sponser i believe..i could be wrong?? ill vote for anybody winning with a chevy though, as stated before, i def. dont want a toyota to pull off the win....also why respond to this thread if you dont like nascar, i hate when people put in their negative two cents....if you actually watch, races are exciting and usually pretty tight. nascar has been really competitive lately and has been anyone's race.

i dont think the transisition from F1 to Nascar is going to be quite so easy for Montoya...i do think he will win rookie of the year but i do not think he will be the big success everyone believes he will be...stock cars and F1 are totally different and u dont remember in an interview Montoya said stock cars were a lot harder to drive

Where is that vid where Jeff Gordon beat some F1 driver when they raced F1 cars head to head and then stock cars head to head?

Speed Channel did that 4 years ago. Oddly enough, that "some F1 driver" was Juan Pablo Montoya. They both had a blast in the stock car, but when Jeff got into Montoya's Williams BMW F1 he had a problem. He was unable to keep his head up under turning and deceleration. Williams had to quickly jerry rig some padding to keep his head from bouncing left and right in the turns.

Yep. Def two different but equally great breeds of racing.

They didn't go head to head side by side in stock or F1 cars, but they both traded off on the Indy F1 road course in each other's rides. Both were very close to each other's times in their respective "natural" machines, which is pretty impressive when you get down the fact that at that time Jeff had never driven the road course @ Indy coupled with the complexity of the F1 machine. Throwing Montoya into something so foreign as a full bodied race car that's, what...1500 lbs heavier and less handling and aero sophistocated than what he'd been driving for the previous 5 or 6 years (including his at the time CART experience).

I'm not a redneck- far from it.

Yet I own guns, a pick-up truck and enjoy NASCAR.

My preference is 1) Drag Racing 2) Nascar 3) The Rest of Motorsports.

Drag Racing appeals to my short attention span and low delight level.

NASCAR is cool because it's way loud, lot's of cars, and cool merchandise- plus lot's of free-swinging boobie's and tight jeans.

Im not sure how much a stock car weighs, but an F1 car has to be a min of 600KG, that is 1322. I'm guessing the stock car is more then 2000lsb heavier.
