I was impressed with the strength of the 2, 5, and 20 as well as the rookie Gilliland (sp?) in the 38, during the shootout Saturday night. However...Dale Jr.'s runs in the Shootout the last few years haven't been that impressive, including last year, when he had a pretty good car for the 500.

I think this could shape up to be the most exciting 500 field in recent memory with a lot of good cars having a chance to win.

They really need to repave Daytona like they just did with Talledega. Yes, you can talk to me about the challenge of getting the cars to handle over those bumps and dips, and the rough track surface but, the racing @ 'dega was phenominal in the fall.

The 38 car was impressive.. and he was right behind Stewart during the Bud shoot-out.

Daytona is a big crap shoot every year.

You can't go wring with Dale Jr, Tony Stewart, or Jimmie Johnson though...

I'm a fan of Harvick, but yes 38 was definitely impressive. It would be nice to see him or another rookie like Hamlin win as well.

Ward Burton is my man, so if he makes the field I'll be pulling for him. It's hard to predict a winner for the first race. If I was betting, I would go with Dale Jr or Stewart. Stewart is the best driver on the track. Don't really care as long as one of the Busch kids don't take it. Nerds.

Um...unless there's another Hamlin...it won't be Denny as a rookie (cause he's a sophmore this year).
