What is an inspector gonna do when he gets in my car with a TH400 and a hurst quarterstick that there's not much of a chance that he will know hot to operate LOL. I suspect I'll have to drive the car in for him.

And what about the smell of turbo blue unleaded race gas..... that gonna send someone for a loop as well?

Only thing you're looking for are emmissions codes, stuff like abs, etc. don't matter do they?

How To Pass CT Emissions:

1. Visual Inspection:

This is where we actually look under your car for cats, not all testers do this like they should Even so, as long as you have cats (even aftermarket ones) you will pass this part of the test. We do NOT check for AIR or EGR or anything else like that.

2. OBDII (1996 and Up):

For 96 and newer vehicles, we simply plug into your OBDII port and check for codes. ANY CODE will fail the vehicle, no ifs, ands, or buts.

But this is not the end of the world, If you do have a code/SES light, simply disconect your battery for a minute before you go to the test station, the emissions computer knows you're trying to pull a fast one on it, and will kick to the backup test (dyno test), which you should be able to pass as long as you have cats.

Now, if you've had your car tuned to get rid of codes, it may bump you to a dyno test as well.

3. Dyno Test (95 and Older):

This is where we run the car on the dyno at 25mph and actualy probe the tailpipe. The three gasses we check for are HydroCarbons (HC), Carbon Dixocide (CO) and Nitrates of Oxygen (NOX)... dont bust my ***** if I spelled any of those wrong )

Basicly, as long as you have cats, and your car doesnt run like absolute ****, you should be able to pass this one. Even in a H/C car, just make sure whoever is doing the test runs it in 2nd gear... if he does it in 3rd a car with a big cam may not pass.

Thats the basics, I'll add more as I think of it...

dyno test LOL, anyone tries that on my car I'm telling them to stop immediately. **** they could put that guage about 15 feet behind my car and it will fail.

Guess the computer needs to play then......

I was told before they even plug in your car they put the key in the on position without starting up your car and if the engine light doesn't come on and then go off before starting the car up they won't do the test. What is the purpose of this procedure.

Ok, you're allowed to have up to 3 "moniters" not set, if 4 or more are not set or dissabled then it'll bump you to a dyno test.

what constitutes a monitor? I still have all 4 o2's in the car and I can see they all get readings from my hand held unit... I've only had one code that comes up every now and then again, something about the IAC, but I think we're gonna fix that when I get the car in hopefully in the next week or 2. What constitutes a monitor exactly, gimmie an example.

Where do you test emmissions too... I want to go to a place that's a little more lienient. I have cats in the y pipe and all that.. but a edgy street car/race car is what it is... no hiding it when it starts up.

The plug in test is very easy to pass if the tuning is done right. You CAN delete the AIR and EGR!! It is not part of the system ready test.Ma has been doing this testing for years and I've never had a customer fail. The only way you can fail is by being tuned SD since the MAF is shut off.

If it's a readiness test, then stuff like abs and tcs type stuff shouldn't matter at all then, you should be able to have that, stuff like airbags etc. off, as long as the emmissions readiness tests all pass it should be good to go then I take it

It's only looking for emissions stuff not ABS or TCS, here's a list of the moniters the computer looks for:

Missfire
Secondary Air system
Oxygen Sensor Heater
Fuel System
Heated Catalyst
A/C system
EGR System
Comprehensive Component
Evaporitve System
Oxygen Sensor
Catalyst
MIL engine off
MIL engine on

(obviously not all cars have all these systems, so some you wont need to worry about.)
