What's up with all of the hitch haters? I just ordered a hitch for the camaro (drawtite) for this summer's river trips with the stand-up jetskis. It's gonna be very comfortable cruising 250 some odd miles in the desert heat (110+) in the comfort of the Z. Alot better then driving a beater truck with the windows down all that way...

Winter's over, get your boat out! Nothing wrong with a hitch on an F-body.

Hey Jeff,

Did you do the wiring for the trailer as well? If so, how hard was in to run the wiring and did you find a good kit to use? Where did you run the wires in the back?

Thanks..

Yeah, I picked up the harness at Pep Boys and used those scotch locks to tap into the wires inside the trunk area. That way you never have to worry about the connections getting corroded because they stay inside the body. I keep the wire harness tucked inside the trunk and just hang it over the weatherstripping and close the hatch when it's time to tow. The hitch is a Hidden hitch and is pretty low profile and not too tough to install. You need to remove the rear exhaust hangers and then drill 2 more holes in the framerail. It will really tighten up the rear of the car and make it ride more rigid and you will get more bite off the line.

Thanks for the input Jeff. I was figuring on going to the local auto parts store for a kit. That's a good idea just leaving it inside the car unless in use, I was thinking of fishing it under the rear somewhere, but just hanging it off rear when in use seems better. I ended up getting a drawtite setup new on ebay for cheap, similar to the hidden hitch setup. I'll keep you posted, thanks again...

One more question Jeff, was it hard to fish the bolts/keepers into the subframe? Or is there ample room to get it done?

My hitch came with some long wires that were coiled at the end. You thread the bolts into the coil section and then fish it up through. It's actually pretty easy. I did need to widen the corners of the opening in the frame with a file to get the flat bolt holders in but that's not too big of a deal either. The hardest part for me was getting those rear tailpipe hangers out with a 6mm allen wrench. They fought me all the way.
