Default The little stroker that could..

The VT 5.0L stroker is in, and stroking away.

I put 2 miles on it.. can't really drive till I get plates.

I'm very happy to report that not one puff of smoke was evident, and motor has great oil pressure and runs nice and cool.

After 30 minutes, I drained the oil and have to do it 2x at 500 mile intervals for the rings to seat.

Here's some pic's and video clips (not the best, but you get the idea!)

Please right click and copy..

Still have a few small things to iron out.. cleaning and polishing jobs under the hood.

Not too many cam options out there for 4V's.. so I went with the Ford Racing cam kit which included everything, valves, seals, springs, followers (like lifters) and it is proven. The tune makes it sound a bit less lopey then when it was first started. Don't forget, it's only 302ci.

Basically a sleeper street/strip car.

When you drive a Mustang, everyone wants to try you.. Honda's, BMW's, GM Cars-of-all-types, even Botox-faced-MILF's in mini-vams!

I gotta be able to say "seee-yaaaa" in second gear.

The bottom end is all forged, so a small shot or low boost probably wouldn't hurt, either. I'd worry more about the T-45 saying no mas.

The problem is some of those other cars can be pretty quick. A BMW 335I with the $1300 vishnu package will run 110+ MPH traps....

A power adder is a must....

As long as you don't stick a tire under it and beat the snot out of it at the strip I think the T45 will be fine. If you do decide to upgrade, go right for the T56. I have a tremec and its a little notchy.

Does the T56 bolt right in versus the T45? If so- I bet you could find one used for not too bad- get a full rebuild kit from Six Speeds Inc and call it a day. Those kits are supposed to be good for 750whp or so.

Car should move out, I know those 4v cobras arent as much of a slouch as some of you guys are making them- not fast- but not slow either. I raced a kid with one just after I had gotten my headers on, he hung with me good until about the middle of second, but he had et-streets on, good meaty tires and was launching hard. I was rolling into it at about 2200rpm on my nittos and playing catch-up off the line. I went nuts with him til 2nd there, and then pulled away in third. With a bottle, I don't doubt those cars would move real nice. How much do they weigh?

The T-56 fits right in.. d/s might need attention, but it works.

The car weighs 3400 I think.

Not much, and much less than a longblock from Ford would have costed.
