Default Are windows required for NJ inspection?

I recently got a tune from PCM4less (amazing job btw) so my car will fully pass OBDII. Only problem is I have 5% tinted windows so I can't quite roll through inspection. Can I pull my fuse/ disconnect the wiring / lower my window and still pass? I can't quite find anything that says if windows are required to be operational. The closest thing I found was that windows had to be able to roll down in case of a turn signal failure but nowhere did I see that they had to roll up

Any insight?

give it a shot, the worse they can do is fail you...then again after they do its on record when you went, and if the condition is not met within the alloted period of time, your registration can be revoked.

You know that's pretty clever, I'm not sure if they can let it go or not.

Worth a try and best of luck.

id take it to a private inspection facility. preferably a recommended one. i dont have tint but i have a cam and LTs ect. and i passed. tint can be tricky though and some places are hesitant about passing you.

Your windows are required to go up and down in jersey. They check mine every time. I failed once for a faulty switch some years back. A private inspection would probably be your best bet. Good luck.

Question

I do not see why there would be a law anywhere requiring windows..some jeeps do not have them.

^ that's some states steve - not great old NJ.

And I found out that the driver window has to be operational... so I could minimize my costs by un-tinting my driver side, rolling down my passenger side and pulling its power and then getting that one side re-tinted again

But bump if anyone could send me a place via PM

I would just call some local shops in the phone book and tell them ur windows don't work and you want to know it it will pass 4 now. That way you have nothing to lose b/c if they say no its not on ur record. Just keep callin around till you find a place that says yes. Good Luck!
