Default Got brakes?

Well today at work somebody came in and wanted us to install their own supplied pads and rotors, no problem or so I thought. My mechanic pulls the car into the bay but before he did he told me he saw a leak by the wheel. The kid told me he attempted to do the brakes on his car but couldn't get the wheel off. Well when we pop the wheels off this is what we found....

I can't believe this kid drove around like that I was bewildered and was speechless for about an hour. The caliper exploded and the rotor on the passenger rear was completly gone! Then he called me up and I gave him an estimate for calipers and rotors, while I was explaining him the situation as calm as I could the whole shop started laughing at me it was so hard to keep a straight face and explain to this kid what happend. He could not afford to do the repairs, he actually wanted to drive the car home in that condition. I told him that it would not be safe to do that and I advised him to get it towed home. Some people should not be allowed to drive.

This is what the brakes should look like:

Where did the 'business' part of the rotor go? Did it explode and break off in pieces? Also what kind of car is that?

I've seen things like that, in that case the shop could not let the car leave until fixed for now obvious safety concerns.

I would've love to do that but legally I could not do that. I pretty much made him get that towed home though...

We had a guy blow a brake line in New Hampshire, and he drove all the way to peabody with the ebrake. Needless to say his rear calipers, and rotors were toast!!
