Interesting law in NJ
Interesting law in NJ Got stopped today in my mother's Altima for having a license plate surround on the car (dealer put the damn thing on). Apparently you can no longer have one that obstructs any writing on the plate. Didn't get a ticket but I never knew about this. Just a heads up, I guess (although I don't know how old/new the law is...?)

actually, that is federal highway law. you are not allowed to install anything on a US car that covers any of the lettering on the license plate, even if it is clear.
i am however surprised that was the excuse fro stopping you. not the kind of thing you normally hear about unless a cop is really trying to be a dick.

MA has had that law for a while. Its one of those laws that no one follows. You are not allowed to have any form of cover whether it be clear or otherwise. You are also not allowed to have a bracket that covers any part of Massachusetts or Spirit of America.
