Well I just ordered a German Style Helmet

Flame all you want, I think they look cool as ****.

Yeah If I fall i'm fucked, but **** so is every harley rider in the USA, plus this helmet keeps me under 90MPH. Which is a good thing

Let's not forget I got 15 years of riding experience under my belt either!

Yep, and as incredibly stupid and irresponsible this sort of behavior is, it's just amazing to me how the average female (teen and adult) get turned on and find it all so horny. There's something about bikes that chicks really dig, and in a totally different way to any sports car. Unfortunately these morons you are all referring to are viewed as "cool" and studly by the very women we may fail to impress with more civilized and gentlemanly methods

Hell, most of these idiots I see around here need a 500r for their first bike.

I started out on a TL1000RR, but that bastard was so heavy and under powered, it was like a 600. But, I built that bike from scratch after another idiot about totalled it. After I built it back up, sold it for a 01' gixxer 1k, rode that for a couple years, then sold it for the 10r... but I ALWAYS respected the power and learned to handle it.

But these kids **** me off left and right. I see them weaving in and out of traffic, cutting people left and right. Trying to wheelie... speeding around with their girlfriend's on the back (of course no gear what soever).

I just hope one of them does something stupid so they all can learn. I bet there are 50 new bikers this year that I've seen. The guys I hang around with have all been ridding for 8 years +... not two months. I don't know if I'm just getting old or what, but **** man... these guys are going to get themselves, or their girl friends, or their bystands killed because they are IDIOTS!

Marco, if you've been riding for 15 years and still ride like you say you do, what awesome superhuman power does a helmet have that is going to keep you under 90? 90 on a bike is smooth it's silly. Your not going to slow down because of what you wear, don't be silly.

At 90 or whatever, your dead. Wear whatever you want because you won't make it. ****, I'd wear pink socks and a speddo, I wouldn't care because I'm not around to be embarassed.

I have to have a full face helmet, the wind and bugs alone with an open face would make me never want to drive the bike.

Can you imagine getting a rock to the face or even your arm at that speed? With a tshirt and no helmet, that could be like a bullet!

You ever wear one of those helmets on the highway??? The wind fills it up like a parachute and tries to rip your head off. You need to ride with your head tilted down...OR.....SLOOOWWW

I read all these "young, stupid, and irresponsible" comments. Is there ANYONE here that can't tell a few stories of real dumb things they did? Hell I can fill a book!

Thats my point, with a full face helmet I have no problem going 170 on my bike, what the **** for, well cause its easy. With an open face i dont want to go over 65 cause my face hurts, which is great for me cause I'll admit I'm an idiot when it comes to speeding.

What I was trying to get across with my 15 years riding, is that hey i think i qualify as a veteran rider at this point and yeah anyone can get cut off and hit by someone else, but I sure as hell ain't going to crash due to inexperience.

I ride like an idiot with a full face, its just in me to speed, I'm much happier with an open face, all of you can flame me I dont care. i'm happy

Me too....

I mentioned earlier in the thread, being a squid a few years back.. matter of fact here's a pic of being just that; t-shirt, shorts, sneakers, gloves and a helmet on my 2001 RC51:

I think I was 21 at the time! It was my third bike and I crashed it about two weeks after this pic. Low sided on Dun-Flops going through and S-turn too quick.. I was riding with jeans and a leather on that 85 degree day!! I'll admit, that crash was damn fun even though I lost the bike to it, probably because I didn't get a scratch either!!

Uhmm..

Mine..

I've wrecked on a track doing 145 with full leathers on, and not a scratch. There is a reason these products are made and used. Yes, on a street going 90 and being ran over by a semi or hitting a pole is going to end your day.. but leathers/boots/gloves will save your *** better than nothing. ****, I've seen a friend hit in the helmet by a bird at 75, and it just cracked the visor. If he didn't have it, he would be toast. I think protection is a must, but to each his own. Fall at 45 once, and you'll wish you had more than a t-shirt and shorts.
