Default Finally got to the track

Finally got the opportunity to take the car down the track today. This was my first time ever running anything at the track. I only ran twice, both on regular street tires.

Run #1: bogged at the start, then spun a little, spun in 2nd
ET: 13.99 @ 104.63 w/.68166 RT
2.395 60'

Run 2: didn't bog but spuna little and still in 2nd
ET: 13.727 @ 105.24 w/.741 RT
2.42 60'
I know there is more there, but I didn't want to break anything, plus my tune is still a little sketchy, but overall I was pretty happy.

Definitely need the stickys. And a cure, cause I think I caught a bug today, seems like an expensive one.

Nice trap speeds, that thing is movin'. Better launches can be had on street tires. I managed a 2.161 60' on my second run ever. And yes, that is an expensive bug you just caught.

Running at the track is a blast.

based on your sig, seems like you have alot of issues to work out... car should be running ~110-112mph leaving at idle and granny shifting.

Just a few, but is a project ever really done? I think a lot of my issues are with the driver, just need some more practice

To be honest, the driver has little affect on mph with mild street car. You should be within 1mph between every run despite how well you 60' and if you dont miss a gear. You are definitely missing power somewhere.

I ran my mild heads/cam LT1 with only 368rwhp/336rwtq to consistent 113-114mph despite varying 60's of 2.0 to 2.5's.

FYI, my bolt-on only z28 was trapping what you are with only 300rwhp (before heads/cam).

I am not trying to bust your *****, just letting you know thats its probably the combo more than the driver.

Missing power is never good, I know I still have some bugs to work out on the car. Any thoughts on where the problem may be, this is my first LT1 and first time playing with an injected car? Any ideas would be very helpful and greatly appreciated. I did screw up my 3-4 shift, I bounced off the rev limiter a bit.

There is truth to that, I never was more then 1 mph off all my runs, I had one 101, but I couldnt get it into 4th quickly enough.

Feels good to be shifting when racing eh Aaron You like the manual better than your old auto setup?

I like it because I like to cruise and the track is far enough away, that I would have a race from roll, then from a dead stop, its major fun factor.

I think the car is faster but with 34k on a stock LS6 clutch, it had fade after hard runs on a 100 degree day 2 weeks ago. I dont want to frag it. I figure eventually ill buy a auto car for racing, but this one will do just fine for now.

List of mods include, bored 40 over, .510/.520 lift 230/236 duration cam, 1.6rrs, shorty headers(edelbrock), stock fpr and pump, 36 lb injectors, MSD 6 plus w/ coil, new gm opti, ported heads and intake stock size valves, 52 mm tb, tb bypass, NGK tr55gp, stock ram air(slp), stock Maf, stage 3 clutch, I think that is it. The tune was done by pcmamerica(at the recommendation of a friend) but hopefully soon to be corrected by PCMforless

Who ported the heads? Sounds like that is one bottle neck (stock valve sizing).

I had the same cam in my LT1 setup and with a base pcm tune I made 368rwhp/336rwtq which hetted me mid 12's @ 114mph (consistent 114mph). So right there you are down 8-9mph (~80-90hp). Granted, I had 3.73's and it looks like you have stock 3.42's, so realistically you are probably down 70rwhp from me.

I did tweak the A/F on the dyno and got my #'s up to 383rwhp/353rwtq.

You have a good bit to go to be where you are at. I would say the heads are mildly ported at best and you need the tune checked. I'd get on a dyno and see how your hp/tq curves look, as well as A/F.

Getting a good tune is definitely in the very near future. I eventually plan on stepping up the rear gear also to either 3.73s or 4.10s (unfortunately not til the winter or it breaks). When I get some extra cash I am planning on having the heads opened up a little more also.
