I'm actually surprised. Going from a 2.73 to a 3.42 gear won't net me more than a tenth???

If warren cut a 1.6x sixty foot on his car with his mod's....with more power in my car and a steeper gear, I would think that would get me further than a 12.1 to a 12.0.

I know for a fact my sixty foot will be at least mid/low 1.6's if not lower, that alone would surely get me into the 11's. What don't I understand here?

yeah it may.... racing is weird remember.. its not always as it seems... a tenth on the 60 should net a tenth on the 1/4 at least.. so we'll see..

When I sold my car to the Bruso's, they did Hal's all around, Kook's headers, and 12 bolt w/3.73's. Don did the re-tune. So, the headers, the 3.73's, and the Hal's were only worth a tad over 2/10ths better than what I was running w/3.23's, stock shocks and a cutout! They removed the rear seat and the door panels to help compensate for the extra weight of the rear, but the car still never got into the 11's. W/stock motor still, it would run 12.0's all day long, but never broke that barrier...Obviously, it needed a cam and some head work to make the jump. Then they found that 10 sec. iron block '02 red car that Justin is running now, re-sold mine and it ended up down in Ct. as a DD again.... I wish you luck, my friend. Sometimes, it's just hard to crash thru that barrier. 1/10th becomes very difficult to get when you're that close....One thing....are you running bias-ply ET Streets, or the M/T ET Street radials? I believe the radials are worth close to 1 full mph in the 1/4--my car proved that more than once. Raceweight? WJ

I didn't retune the car. Only changed the gear -shift point. Adding headers with the tune would make the car slower since the headers richen it up alot.

I bet Joe's car will run 11.6-11.7 now with the gears and a better day in the 60's. With weight out it will run under 11.5's. We haven't come close to the barrier yet.Car was detuned in timing with those crappy gears due to the load and the car will be faster running 3 gears instead of 2 down the track.

Joe don't sweat it 11's will be in your future easily. In fact go up on a street night or a sat t and t soon and show it what's up. Look like warren said all bolt on's was a 12.0 you have a cam also 11's shouldn't be a problem now that those gears will keep the powerband going!

Joe, you're in the 11's no sweat.

I ran 11.9X's cam only with a slightly smaller cam and smaller converter, stock rear (3.23's).The only weight I pulled was the back seats and the spare. Once we get some 70* weather it will be ripping. I think I cut a 1.75 60" to break into it back then.

The weather on C/F day I'm sure my car would of been running about 3 tenths slower.

Hmmm.....so maybe it never got a re-tune after the headers were added....still think it was at its max without going inside the motor....it had under 6k miles on the clock.. Different ratio rockers, new valve springs, and your re-tune might have gotten it over the edge on a cold day w/a well-prepped track, especially on a trip down to Atco. WJ

Waren, just curious, what were you running the hals QA1's at?
Sorry off topic... Joe you should bracket race more. I think there is a sticky at corvette forum on the science which is pretty good under drag racing.
Keith... Great time and MPH.

I am not sure if Joe will get 5mph on top end.. thats a lot.. my car ran real consistant 11.7x at 115... I think he will need 20-30 more HP to get to there.. but wieght can do it, I have always been heavy..lol

Lets put it this way. Ninja ran 11.7(or 11.6) at 116mph (or 117) with 30-40rwhp less than Joe. Joe's race weight was heavy last time out.We should have atleast 100-150lbs dropped before his next outing. That with the new gears which use the powerband alot better which will give more exceleration (spell) should make him very fast.

Of course I'd love to see him hit a street night this week and just see what the rear swap did by itself.

A big stalled, 400hp, 3500lb car is toying with low 11's high 10's. HP isn't the end all of drag racing, it's how it's used.

I've seen 3300lb cars making 430-40hp run 10.7xxx.

I'd like to shoot for 10.999, on motor in the next year or so. I think it's attainable.

don, i was already thinking of going earlier this week. i just need some very basic tools like a jack, torque wrench, breaker bar, air gauge blah blah blah. i also need some way to lock that **** up along with my stock rims so i dont have to drive down the track with that stuff in my car. i know people would steal that ****.

i wish someone i knew was going up so i could lock that stuff up in their car.

Hi Brent. I ran the stock shocks on my SOM car. The Hal's were installed by Jeff Bruso after he bought the car from me.....WJ

Joe, hopefully you'll hook if you go Wed. nite----they're usually pretty stingy w/the VHT on street nights, plus the moisture coming in off the ocean after nightfall up there makes things pretty slippery. 3.42's will give you 1/10, is my guess....a cool Sat. morning and good track prep will give you your 11 sec. timeslips, I'll bet...
