Stock auto birds will pull 102-104mph in great shape... definitely not enough for a well tuned LT1 with amild cam.

I did run a mach 1 and a GTO that traps a higher mph than me and beat them both because they spun bad. The mach 1 spun hardcore, the GTO traps a much higher mph than me and when we went from a 20mph roll he put a ton of cars on me. Spinning will def. be a factor, just don't spin hard, get out of the whole easy and you will win, ofcourse if you spin too hard and give him a few seconds head start by doing so then abviously a few seconds is a lot in the 1/4 mile.
All this talk of racing from a dig. really make's me miss my dsm...

People laugh at this cam but it can put out decent #'s Perfect street cam. That drives like stock and needs nothing.

So assuming I can drive I have a chance... ? I'm so confused, I drove a stock A4 non ws6 and i felt like i could have killed that with just my intake. Granted I'm no MArio Andretti, but what you guys are saying is so depressing. I've put some hard earned presidents into my lt1, just to keep up with a stock auto ls1? I know I have nothing outstanding in my car, anyone with a hot cam wanna chime in on this issue.

Also with the exception of power adders (Nitrous, Turbo, etc) what will it take to punish this guy? I've been practicing my launch technique and I feel way more confident in my ability. Is there any advantage to me racing him from a roll? Chances are that this will be a street race. Give me something to work with!

You have what it take's to put a real hurting on him. Seriously man don't let bench racing get to you, I bet you will put buslength's on em. Just go out there and get it over with before you get anymore doubt in your head, you have what it take's to beat em, if you really wanna put a hurting on em just don't launch it hard so you don't waste time spinning, that way you will really put carlength's on em through the whole 1/4.

All things perfect, from a roll you probably got him, from a dig you'll probably loose.
The best advice I can give you is race at the track and not on the street.
BTW if you really have to run him on the street. Try a 35-40 mph run(might be 30-35 forget), you will annihilate him. 4L60E, w/3.23', stock TC. You'll beat him like a red headed stepchild.

Heh, I wish I gave you a ride in the 1g when it had the 60-1 in it.
Wish you came for a ride in a 6 speed car with a 125 shot from 40-140+ (ask tyler/aka mybeatgsx).. my car would've put a massive hurting on his.. even with NO 4th gear, lol

I had to do the same thing from a roll, it never felt like it was in the right gear so I'd always tell the guy I'm racing that I gotta make a full stop to get my car in gear, then I'd work my way up to 1st or second depending on where he wanted to go from, it made a huge dif. not just by not letting the auto pick the wrong gear, but also because I don't have to wait for the car to downshift.

Get a big converter and gears and it's less of a problem.
