The LT4 hotcam is very mild. I'd say you will tie or barely win from a stop. You better figure out what spot is the end of the race, because he WILL pass you eventually.

Stock? cuz thats what we are talkin about. What mph were you pulling?

Stock auto birds will pull 102-104mph in great shape... definitely not enough for a well tuned LT1 with amild cam.

I did run a mach 1 and a GTO that traps a higher mph than me and beat them both because they spun bad. The mach 1 spun hardcore, the GTO traps a much higher mph than me and when we went from a 20mph roll he put a ton of cars on me. Spinning will def. be a factor, just don't spin hard, get out of the whole easy and you will win, ofcourse if you spin too hard and give him a few seconds head start by doing so then abviously a few seconds is a lot in the 1/4 mile.

All this talk of racing from a dig. really make's me miss my dsm...

I beg to differ.

12.086 @ 113mph.

Hotcammed 383, with stock ported LT1 castings.
4L60e w/ 2000 stall
No Suspenion
245/50-16 Nitto's
Exhaust, not cats
EWP
Mail order tune
CAI

People laugh at this cam but it can put out decent #'s Perfect street cam. That drives like stock and needs nothing.

here is a vid of me ripping up a 02 Viper GTS with a CAI and no mufflers. Wit the mods listed, my sig has the stuff I did afterwards.

So assuming I can drive I have a chance... ? I'm so confused, I drove a stock A4 non ws6 and i felt like i could have killed that with just my intake. Granted I'm no MArio Andretti, but what you guys are saying is so depressing. I've put some hard earned presidents into my lt1, just to keep up with a stock auto ls1? I know I have nothing outstanding in my car, anyone with a hot cam wanna chime in on this issue.

Also with the exception of power adders (Nitrous, Turbo, etc) what will it take to punish this guy? I've been practicing my launch technique and I feel way more confident in my ability. Is there any advantage to me racing him from a roll? Chances are that this will be a street race. Give me something to work with!

You have what it take's to put a real hurting on him. Seriously man don't let bench racing get to you, I bet you will put buslength's on em. Just go out there and get it over with before you get anymore doubt in your head, you have what it take's to beat em, if you really wanna put a hurting on em just don't launch it hard so you don't waste time spinning, that way you will really put carlength's on em through the whole 1/4.

All things perfect, from a roll you probably got him, from a dig you'll probably loose.

The best advice I can give you is race at the track and not on the street.

BTW if you really have to run him on the street. Try a 35-40 mph run(might be 30-35 forget), you will annihilate him. 4L60E, w/3.23', stock TC. You'll beat him like a red headed stepchild.

its 35-40 mph. dead spot for stock converter with 3.23 gears. anything in this speed range and he cant get the car to kick down to 1st gear and would like you said give him a real nice jump. just make sure you dont go up too high for the race otherwise he stands a better chance of catching up.

go race for fun, you dont have to race for money if you are afraid of loseing.

Heh, I wish I gave you a ride in the 1g when it had the 60-1 in it.

Wish you came for a ride in a 6 speed car with a 125 shot from 40-140+ (ask tyler/aka mybeatgsx).. my car would've put a massive hurting on his.. even with NO 4th gear, lol

Tyler only had a 50 trim, lol. When I sold the turbo to danie she made a bit over 400whp on racegas. But on pump your car on nitrous woulda def. beat me, i got too much nock from that turbo on pump that's why I sold it.

But on to bigger and better things now

edit: I gotta try and resize my sig. pic when I get home.

I had to do the same thing from a roll, it never felt like it was in the right gear so I'd always tell the guy I'm racing that I gotta make a full stop to get my car in gear, then I'd work my way up to 1st or second depending on where he wanted to go from, it made a huge dif. not just by not letting the auto pick the wrong gear, but also because I don't have to wait for the car to downshift.

I dunno about your experience, but manually shifitng a stock 4l60e is a no no in my book. Shifting youself on any non MVB tranny is asking for problems. My car would almost free rev between shifts if I tried that. Plus you're not getting max line pressure during the run. You're better of leaving it in "D" and mashing the gas.

Get a big converter and gears and it's less of a problem.

I would shift it as soon as i mashed it and i avoided it free reving, but i made sure my roll races i was in 1st gear
