Default Back to the track, learned some things, new best...

JL-ws6 helped me get the line lock on this week, its a SLP unit which really kicks *** and is a fairly easy install I must say. The car does indeed do smokey burnouts.

I decided since now I can heat the rubber up, it was time for one last run. My ET's have no tread left to them, so it was one last run before they are tossed. I ran full weight, we got there kinda late. I am usueally the 1st in the lanes and running.

Ran the tires at 22-23 psi. The front was ran at 40. I only got 3 runs, the track was slow to get cars in and out, and it was mid to high 80's and the DA was 2300.

The 1st two runs were junk, I missed the 2-3 shift. I think I was getting to excited on the runs and I didnt grind, just didnt want to go. The clutch has to be done soon so its ok.

the 60's for the 1st runs were mid 1.9's I revved higher everytime, starting 3500 then 4500.

On the last run I revved 5500 and dumped, and the tired old tired bit hard and the car lurched forward to a 1.82 60 foot and ran a 13.06 @ 107.5 which is my best with the new gears. I wanted to go again but it was looking to be 1 hour plus wait and it was already 2pm and it was hot, I was burnt and tired and called it a day.

I new have my best 60 foot in a m6 car and its going to get better. I will order a new set of tire next spring, do the clutch, the hood, and get it tuned. The car should be solid 12's at that point and from there who knows. The thing I learned is that I gotta really push that tranny if I have a hope to cut good et's out of it.

If the air was a lil better, I would have had the 12 but we cant all have
-1000 DA's

245/50-16's for the M/T ET street radials

LVD for the track.

I ran my 17" ws.6 rims up front and a 16" t/a rim in the back, quite pimp.

I agree, the car is now out of its power band. I def have to work harder to get the same time. But when I make more power via H/C, blower, or even a TT kit, it will be ready for it.

Nice runs. Your sixty foot is getting down there and it sounds like you grabbed pretty good from a 5500 launch, so I would imagine the tires aren't quite as dead as we thought they were. Perhaps the line lock really helped you to heat them properly. Once my new tranny goes in, the next on the list is line lock so I don't break anything I shouldn't. I'm even tempted to get it before we hit up Atco in November if someone can help me install it. Are you coming with us for that? It's a Saturday, I believe.

I havent decided yet joe, I really dont trust this clutch, I have been riding on GOD's good graces. I have to buy 4 new street tires $171 each, New Drag radials (ron offered to let me borrow a set of his nittos). And the clutch probably will be a LS7 and i need to get John to install and break in with in the time limit. I'll let you know.

Arron you can get much better tire prices than that im sure unless your set on a certain brand,
you should be able to get good tires for about $100

also if you want you can borrow my slicks and skinnies for ATCO just dont drive up there on them thats all i ask, maybe it will help ya get a new best in the 12s with the magic atco air

Well, the cheapest ive seen is 107 but I wasnt digging the Falkens, I did not like the tread pattern at all. I am basically 50/50 on a Nitto or the BFG KDW, we will see.

As for the slicks, thanks for the offer, I may take you up on them, the 26" tall slicks o' doom.

lol
