Thanks, $800 used but about $1000 after getting everything needed for it like electrical, paint, mounting hardware, fluids, gas to pick it up, etc.

Thanks guys, I'll let you know how it all goes over the weekend.

Right now we got valve bodies, plates, selenoids, accumulators, and junk everywhere. The dude at auto zone is looking at me weird when I show up a few times in a row to buy more ATF and return the used stuff. Gonna have to put a plug kit in the pan and get a clean catch pan.

Thanks Keith for the DVD, I wish it had some of my better runs on it.

It's an awesome lift. I don't think I would of attempted all this work without it.

Do you have rolling chairs to work underneath it?

Yeah, but I've been finding it easier just to use the creeper. I'm pretty tall, so even if we went to the ceiling I think I would be bending down a little.

If I need to I'll just open up the ceiling/floor above it but that'll take away from my work shop up there so I don't really want to. Compromises....

Send it back to Performabuilt and pick up a proven 4l60e from FLT. You can't go wrong with them. They just had John Reese's Procharged Vette out in +1700 DA and it went 9.60s.

FLT's a good company for sure.
However if I go through another tranny again, I'll probably go locally 1st. I still got my old one with a shift kit in it that performed flawlessly untill the 3-4clutch pack went.

No matter who you buy from, if it fails you gotta deal with it in the same way, if locally you just bring it back.

It's not so much the company that's the problem, it's just 4l60 tranny's are junk.

Great news guys.

Got the new VB and plate in again, and this time it worked like a charm. It seems to have fixed all my Issues. I get all 4 gears in "D", my shifts are not sticking or missing when cold (I'll know for sure tomorrow) Also I think my WOT 1-2 shift issues are corrected now.

So now I think I'm outta the woods.

Don, it seems like the 1-2 is occuring just after 5k, so I think it's behaving itself again, Kinda hard to tell cause you can't exactly use WOT 1st gear on the cold street Next spring you shoud have a good working tranny to tune on.

It's a frustrating process, but I'm happy with the outcome. Performabuilt was always there when I called, even Sundays, and they sent me the parts to try quickly. I think they did what was in their power to get everything right, and would they of shipped me another tranny if needed? I dunno, but something tells me if it came down to that they probably would of.

When it comes down to it I probably should have not ran into these issues, and then go through multiple VB's etc...But I'm glad it worked out. Now If I would of paid a shop to do this it probably would have cost me $250+ everytime to do it, that would have gotten expensive after 3 times.

Anyways, I'm glad it's working and i gotta thank my 2 buds for giving me a hand (Scott+Mike). And thanks to Performabuilt, even though this shouldn't of happened, they made good on it.

I actually already puts my cat's and stuff back in for inspection, I dunno if I'm gonna make the track again this year, I'll probably have the car put away in under a month.

Next season, I'll get my intake, new plugs, maybe a 12 bolt later, well see. I'm just glad I can drive it again.

I didn't get the caps yet? Weird, maybe they will come in today.

Glad you got it working and we could help. And yes it shouldnt have happened but with all things mechanical things do happen. The important part is we go it figured out. These type minor issues dont happen often anymore since we started using he test car of course even it like a dyno isnt fool proof since real world in the customers actual car is still a different world. But it does help to further reduce incidents. Which is always our goal. I have no idea what the deal was with the second valve body will be studying it when we get it back. Again glad all is well.

You should tell that to one of my customers that runs a stock/stalled 4L60 in his 11 second GTO. He's made about 60 passes and alot of street miles but the tranny will not give out. Some tranny's live, most don't.

Heck my 45k mile stock tranny with shift kit and 3500 stall shifted and took the power great, Just needs 3-4 clutch packs. Otherwise it was great. I was running mid 11's on it all day for a year.

I don't think the 4l60 is given enough credit if built right, should have NO problems in a F-body or GTO running 11's or making under 500rwhp, if properly cooled and spinning under 7k.

If you're out in you're car manually shifting it, or pulling J-slaps, or doing donuts, etc, of course it ain't gonna last.

Me = "D" + loud pedal. That's it.

What yr GTO, 2004 or 05-06, the 05-06 got the 4L65e, which improved on ALOT of the short falls.

Fact is that a 4L60e that lives is the rarity, not the norm, one car I knew of going for the SI record, ran a 4L60e, it was a light weight fbody, running nearly stock power, thats fine.

Moddified cars, making more power, heavy weight shortens the life.

I mean if you want to offer me one example of a car that runs 11's, ill give 10 fold the amount of cars that dont.

My 1994 4L60e lasted 24k miles and ran 12.0XX et's with a 2000 stall. Lasted 3 or so years DD and raced over 100 passes. In most peoples book they would consider that lasting, I wouldnt.

At 1200-1600 a pop for R&R, parts, taxes, its very costly.
