Don't ask...
Right now we got valve bodies, plates, selenoids, accumulators, and junk everywhere. The dude at auto zone is looking at me weird when I show up a few times in a row to buy more ATF and return the used stuff. Gonna have to put a plug kit in the pan and get a clean catch pan.
Thanks Keith for the DVD, I wish it had some of my better runs on it.
The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
However if I go through another tranny again, I'll probably go locally 1st. I still got my old one with a shift kit in it that performed flawlessly untill the 3-4clutch pack went.
No matter who you buy from, if it fails you gotta deal with it in the same way, if locally you just bring it back.
.
Got the new VB and plate in again, and this time it worked like a charm. It seems to have fixed all my Issues. I get all 4 gears in "D", my shifts are not sticking or missing when cold (I'll know for sure tomorrow) Also I think my WOT 1-2 shift issues are corrected now.
So now I think I'm outta the woods.
Don, it seems like the 1-2 is occuring just after 5k, so I think it's behaving itself again, Kinda hard to tell cause you can't exactly use WOT 1st gear on the cold street
Next spring you shoud have a good working tranny to tune on.It's a frustrating process, but I'm happy with the outcome. Performabuilt was always there when I called, even Sundays, and they sent me the parts to try quickly. I think they did what was in their power to get everything right, and would they of shipped me another tranny if needed? I dunno, but something tells me if it came down to that they probably would of.
When it comes down to it I probably should have not ran into these issues, and then go through multiple VB's etc...But I'm glad it worked out. Now If I would of paid a shop to do this it probably would have cost me $250+ everytime to do it, that would have gotten expensive after 3 times.
Anyways, I'm glad it's working and i gotta thank my 2 buds for giving me a hand (Scott+Mike). And thanks to Performabuilt, even though this shouldn't of happened, they made good on it.
Next season, I'll get my intake, new plugs, maybe a 12 bolt later, well see. I'm just glad I can drive it again.
I didn't get the caps yet? Weird, maybe they will come in today.
I don't think the 4l60 is given enough credit if built right, should have NO problems in a F-body or GTO running 11's or making under 500rwhp, if properly cooled and spinning under 7k.
If you're out in you're car manually shifting it, or pulling J-slaps, or doing donuts, etc, of course it ain't gonna last.
Me = "D" + loud pedal. That's it.
Fact is that a 4L60e that lives is the rarity, not the norm, one car I knew of going for the SI record, ran a 4L60e, it was a light weight fbody, running nearly stock power, thats fine.
Moddified cars, making more power, heavy weight shortens the life.
I mean if you want to offer me one example of a car that runs 11's, ill give 10 fold the amount of cars that dont.
My 1994 4L60e lasted 24k miles and ran 12.0XX et's with a 2000 stall. Lasted 3 or so years DD and raced over 100 passes. In most peoples book they would consider that lasting, I wouldnt.
At 1200-1600 a pop for R&R, parts, taxes, its very costly.

Glad to help out.
