Thumbs up Supercharged GTS or normal ACR viper?

I am going to be back in the market soon for a viper again. Im debating getting either a 97 GTS supercharged 600 wheel hp with 16K miles (2K miles on blower) or a 01 ACR with 3K miles priced fairly close to each other. Same in color (red) both 6 speeds, ect ect. The ACR is bone stock but its nice because it is a very limited edit. but the GTS has just the power I want again. I really cant decide. What do you guys think is the better car? This time, I will be keeping the car for a while unlike my last viper (5 months)

i would prefer the low mileage ACR if i was buying. the ACR is a cooler piece to begin with and i have trouble trusting that anyone who puts a blower on a car hasn't rung the living ***** out of it. kind of always get the feeling that it is only a matter of time before problems start to show from whatever beatings the previous owner heaped on it.

ACR its stock, and it gives you the assurance that what gets done to it will be by you and you can start fresh.

If that blown GTS is out of Mass, I may know the car and owner and can give you a little background on it. Do you know what kind of blower it is? Roe, Paxton? Running water / meth? Honestly, I would go with the 4 year newer ACR, you get ABS which helps alot with these cars, although you do have to deal with the weaker cast pistons if you ever plan to add FI down the road...

I'd get the newer low mileage ACR and put a radio in.

I love the look of the GTS, plus if I'm not mistaken it's an all forged components motor in the 97. I'd go for that.

I would go with the '01 ACR because 1)ABS brakes 2)upgraded suspension 3)ACR is just a badass car to own because of the limited edition. hopefully, this ACR had the AC kept as an option, but if you're in the market for performance, then that shouldnt really matter. it's not hard to slap a S/C on and get 600whp. if you have enough money saved for a viper, then an additional S/C shouldn't really dent the wallet.

i thought all the 2nd gen motors were the same (forged internals), except for the hypereutectic pistons after '99.

Yea only the GenI motors were forged and came with only 400-415hp or so but could take lots of boost. I think they only went up to 95. The GTS only came with the GenIIs so they were never forged.

Actually, that is incorrect, ALL years up to and including '08 have forged internals EXCEPT for the 00 - 06 model years. The only part that was changed from forged was the pistons which became hypereutectic in late '99 production. Those are the only pieces that need to be changed out to run boosted applications.

What color is the ACR? I would imaging it still retains the A/C and Stereo as there were only 4 ACR's produced in '01 without the $1,100 "comfort group" ( http://ivr.viperclub.org/build.php ) If it is one of those 4 I would ****** it up QUICK!

It is red. I believe it does have ac but the guy just Bumped his price to $62,000. Im not looking to spend that much. Im prob gonna go with the superchanged GTS. Its dynod at 590wheel hp and is pretty safe on the amount of boost
