Default Began the project.

Hey everyone, I'm a little bored so I'd post up.

I always would sit back and read on here how the hell some of you guys do the things you do with working on cars. I started my project in pulling the motor, and I haven't gotten very far or worked on it for long, but wow it's not that hard thus far. I've gotten the coils, the headers, the intake manifold, and rockers and pushrods out so far. Working on the heads now, got the 4 head studs out, and the bolts right below the intake manifold. Not too bad for a first timer and maybe 2 hours of work

Unless your scrapping the heads you need to get all bolts or you risk warping the surface.

I don't love anything more than those first times. I haven't done my heads yet but I can't wait!! I hope you enjoy it as much as most of us do!

I've had sooo many firsts with this car and love and remember them all! First time driving it, buying it, at the track, first modification I did, first time I pulled it apart to change the cam, first time I've changed my exhaust, first time I swapped headers, can't wait for my first time swapping heads, and my plan was to eventually pull the motor and install a 427 down the road but I'm getting so anxious I've been researching a lot on it hoping to find something I can start working on already! Anyways sorry to ramble but no matter how much work it is, enjoy it!! Even if this first time is your last!

That's my plan now . Pulling the motor for probably a 416ci motor with BIG cam, and maybe ported ls7's. I don't know if I'll keep the stage 3 5.3L HPE heads

Work from the outside in when removing the heads dude. Why warp them? Might even sell them if you want.

They are 853's, the heads will probably see the junkyard anyway hahaha. Thanks for the advice. They will be off shortly, so we will see. Only think I've seen that was weird was the rear passenger head stud was a "milky" content. I was thinking maybe head gasket obviously. We'll see probably sunday when the trans comes out, the headers come own and the heads come off

Hey Tommy, you know what I'm loving every minute of it. It's really not that complicated when you get into the knit and grit of it. It all seems to make sense when you see it first hand. Just something you gotta bite of and dig into. Sunday I will probably have the trans out, the headers and exhaust down and out, and the heads completely off the car. Then we'll see.

I'm thinking that I had a blown head gasket. On the passenger rear head stud, and the lower head bolts (rear 2) on that side are covered in what seems to be milky oil so I'm thinking that's the cause of some of the problems. Anyways, I'll keep everyone updated. I'll be getting pictures soon.

Another question with the route I'm going. Is it ok to drain and remove the radiator and everything with the winter coming up, or should I try to do that last?
