That's the ac expressway and it looks like they stopped traffic at the rest stop. If I had to speculate, they put up a sign prior to the rest stop that the expressway would be shut down between 10-15 minutes while they let the corvettes leave the rest stop. 10 minutes is plenty of time for the traffic ahead to dissipate.

My only concerne with doing those speeds in that area is deer deciding to commit suicide and run across the road. That stretch of roadway is pretty bad for hitting deer.

My parents live in cape may and we do the a/c expressway pretty often and every time I see an accident involving a deer.

Ouch, hitting a deer at 180mph = not pretty

We did the same thing at G11 when we were coming back from the Varsity. Here are a couple of pics http://g11.evyl.org/Varsity_Cruise/varsity_cruise.htm . At one point there were about 6 or 7 of us having fun. If you have not been to the Fbody gathering you should.

Did the cops block the road off for you or were you just speeding?

No they did not. I do not know if we were speeding, I never looked at my speedometer. We had a blast. The Hot rod power tour was a blast. We went in 06, and there was plenty of spirited driving to go around.

O I thought you meant you were all flying like that guy in the vid was. Just cruising is fun, but I really want to do some top speed runs on a closed off highway
