Actually here in delaware your car has to pass a pollution(tailpipe sniffer) test.I am not sure how big you can go before emissions are no longer passable.Sometimes a little extra money can get the exhaust readings to come down.

So only cars between 67-96 have to pass the sniffer?
I guess you learn something new every day.

Just got my inspection done kinda, although I am fortunate enough to qualify for out of state inspection. Don't have to swap up anything and take my tint off either. I'm installing my MS3 now and was getting really worried because it's going through LT-hi flo catted y-SLP Loudmouth. Bitch is going to scream louder than it already does. I know for a fact I'll need a new cat-back to pass.

I found a complete dual/dual on ebay for $75. My car with dual/dual, longtubes and catted y was 76 dB. The limit is 95.

you can actually have codes if I remember up to 4, they just have to be tuned out so there is no light lit up, engine light or whatever it is ,gets you an automatic fail, I use flanged headers,so every two years I pop off six nuts swap to a catted Y( gutted but they don't know) and full exhaust out the rear and yes gutted cats and the loudmouth will pass the DB test.

I just went through 3 months ago....I dont know where you guys live but i get inspected in Georgetown. My car has a 3" Offroad y pipe going into a magnaflow catback with a cut out and i have the SLP flow-pak deal. I passed the first time all they did was check for sound and the sniffer test. My SES light was on the entire time due the the offroad y. Never once have they plugged into my car or looked under it..o well better for me i suppose.
